We are now on the second anniversary of the Red Wave of Virginia Election Day, which began with the epic of the Republican governor candidate Glenn Youngkin victory Democratic nominee Terry McAuliffe, and continues to work with Winson Sears Win Governor’s Race, Jason Miares Win In the battle of the state attorney general, the Republicans regained the House of Representatives.
Obviously, this is a Terrible The night of the Democrats, so much so that a Democratic group in the state apparently began to try to try the “yearbook attack” method to try to smear Youngkin a little after the election, similar to the infamous involvement of the then governor. Ralph”Black-facedNortham, the latter put the Virginia Democrats in a very awkward position in early 2019, especially after Northam Withdraw He initially admitted that he was the black face in the 1984 college yearbook photo.
But back to the attack on Youngkin, the Blue Virginia website posted a now deleted postal Last Friday (Archive here) They tried to imply that Youngkin’s appearance at the Norfolk College dance party in 1985 was 50 racist colors, because the theme of the dance party was “Oriental occasions.” Public Radio reporter Ben Paviour ran with the attack and posted a screenshot of the story (Youngkin and his date are in the upper corner on the far right):
New Governor, New Year’s Book Photo.Jeff Thomas and @bluevirginia In a high school dance event called “Oriental Gala”, a photo of the elected governor Glen Youngin appeared, white people wearing traditional Asian costumes.https://t.co/AxA2AcoVCz pic.twitter.com/ZTveUjEylY

The author of this article, Jeff Thomas, pointed out that “In Youngkin’s Almanac, white students wear rice hats, sandals and geisha robes to serve their tuxedos and all-white peers,” but apparently No luck finding any photos of Youngkin to participate in the “racist” part of the ball. In fact, the only photo we saw shows Youngkin and his date wearing a very standard ball at the time.
The site’s founder, Lowell Feld, added a post appendix that stated that they contacted McAuliffe’s campaign shortly after publishing the story to try to find out if they knew about it, and if so, why Do not continue to do this:
[UPDATE by Lowell 10 am – After Jeff Thomas posted this story, I spoke with McAuliffe spokesperson Jake Rubenstein and he told me the McAuliffe campaign DID “vet” Youngkin’s yearbooks, but that for whatever reason(s), this story never appeared in the media, was never tweeted out, etc. As I said to Jake Rubenstein, I’m just completely baffled as to how this story didn’t come out during the campaign. Sure, it’s POSSIBLE it might not have made a difference in the election, but it COULD have – we’ll never know now, and note that the election was VERY close, including for control of the VA House of Delegates, the AG race, etc.! – and it was certainly something Youngkin’s campaign would have used if the shoe had been on the other foot! Ugh…]
“I am completely confused about why this story did not appear during the campaign.” Seriously? I just don’t understand how these clowns think this is a legitimate attack that will undermine Youngkin’s campaign, because from the photos, he actually did nothing wrong. And you have to think that even all the catastrophes of the McAuliffe campaign Mistake They did, and it sounded like they wouldn’t even touch the story, apparently realizing that it was a sure loser.
After looking back a few days, we now understand that Blue Virginia dropped the post attacking Youngkin who boldly appeared on a date with him at the Asian theme dance, and made the following announcement on their Twitter page:
For reference only, we deleted Jeff Thomas’s article in the Youngkin Yearbook, b/c: It claimed that Youngkin had not been censored, but the McAuliffe campaign insisted that it did thoroughly “censor” him (including the yearbook); Youngkin wore an evening dress (not offensive) and was still very young at the time. So… deleted.

In other words, our defamation attempt failed miserably, my fault, please go ahead and forget this embarrassing moment, because we need to try to restore our credibility in the mid-term, because we, as the blue Virginia website, don’t want to become more popular with the country. Responsible. Ha ha.
I think the moral of this story is that no matter how hard you work, you will not be able to resolve the Northam Blackface on the scale of fear in Virginia politics. You simply cannot:
He is wearing a tuxedo. @Ralph NorthamHowever, with his friends, the people have a dark face… and his nickname is “raccoon” pic.twitter.com/dmEYGbh35q
