Usually, these updates take days or weeks to complete. Although it will start rolling out today, it may not be fully rolled out by the end of the day.

- Expect widespread and significant impacts, such as spikes or declines in search rankings.
- Core updates are “extensive” because they don’t target any specific content. Rather, they aim to improve Google’s system across the board.
- Pages that have dropped in ranking will not be penalized; they are being re-evaluated based on other web content published since the last update.
- Focusing on providing the best content is the best recommended way to deal with the impact of core algorithm updates.
- Extensive core updates happen every few months. The site may not be able to recover from an update before the next launch.
- Improvement does not guarantee recovery. However, choosing not to implement any improvements will actually guarantee no recovery.
More details will be announced later today, when the extensive core algorithm update in November 2021 will be officially launched.
