Installation and setup
Ultenic K10 5.3QT Air Fryer is on sale now, I will set it up right away. I downloaded the Ultranic app and connected it to the air fryer, then connected it to the SmartLife app, which controls other devices around my house and connects to Alexa. You can use the Ultranic app or SmartLife app to set the temperature and time of the fryer and the buttons of the fryer itself.

All controls and 11 preset cooking programs are located on the top of the fryer and are flat for easy cleaning. The digital panel clearly displays the temperature and cooking time status of the fryer. I find that the shiny black surface shows dust better than I like, but I like that the controls are at the top for easy viewing and access. When food is ready or needs to be shaken, K10 will also generate a notification on your phone. This is very helpful to me because I often do other things while cooking and forget to check if the food is ready.

Design and features
I was determined to give this fryer a fair evaluation, so I opened the recipe book that came with the fryer and tried some of them. My first one is “Asian Salad Turkey Burger”. This recipe reminds me of something I made in a Hello Fresh lunch box once, which contained turkey powder, panko breadcrumbs, spring onions, hoisin sauce, sambal oelek and ginger. I mixed the ingredients and made the pie, wondering if they all fit in the basket because they are quite large. To my surprise, they all fit. The basket is bigger than it looks, and the advertisement says you can put the whole chicken in it. I think this is possible, although you may experience height issues depending on the size of your bird.

I followed the instructions carefully, then put the patties in the preheated fryer and fry them at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for ten minutes. At the same time, I stirred the marinade for the Asian salad and toasted some ciabatta bread. When the fryer was beeping, I took out the instant-reading thermometers to see if they were actually finished. They looked incomplete, and the thermometer read 115 degrees, so I put them back in place for another 10 minutes. At the end of that cycle, they were done. They don’t look that crisp on the outside, so if you are looking for a charcoal grilled look, you may be confused by this machine. I don’t know why they took the extra time, but maybe it was because the preheated basket cooled too much when I filled the meatloaf. Either way, the extra time did not affect the final result. They are so delicious and moist!

Next is the “coffee muffin” recipe. Once again, I carefully followed the recipe to make a very thick batter that fits well in a separate aluminum foil baking cup. I must admit that I was interrupted by a phone call during the process of making the batsman, so the batsman may have lost a lot of ascent ability before I hung up, but I continued to move on. I put the muffins in the Ultenic K10 5.3QT air fryer basket at 350 degrees for 12 minutes. They also failed to complete within the stipulated time. I put them in for another six minutes, and the toothpick I inserted is clean. I have one muffin left, which is not suitable for other muffins. I left it alone for 12 minutes and the result was much better than the other muffins. It rises higher and is completed in time. However, all the muffins taste great.

At this point I should mention that I want to make sure that the air fryer is heated to the specified temperature because I have two recipes that seem to be longer than expected. I think the reason may be that I packed the basket too full (in the baking scene), or it may be because there is no grill for the turkey burger at the bottom of the basket, so the air cannot circulate normally. Either way, I must check. I used my oven thermometer to do a 400 degree preheating cycle to see if it also reads 400. It is true.

A friend recommended to me my next test of the air fryer. She said that the best popcorn she has ever made comes from an air fryer. I have some old popcorn, so I searched for a recipe on the Internet that said you should make a foil lining for popcorn, then turn it up 400 degrees and check it regularly. Now I admit that I am an old-fashioned popcorn girl. My grandmother made it in a pot on the stove, which is also my favorite method. But I keep an open mind, I can only say: never make popcorn in an air fryer. It is stupid. It doesn’t burst all at once, so you will pull the popcorn out of there every few minutes, because if you leave it, it will dry out and lose its fluffy texture. It won’t burn, but it’s not that good. Next time my friend who recommended this method comes over, I will make her popcorn on the stove and surprise her.

Finally, I tested the Ultenic K10 5.3QT air fryer. Most people use the air fryer for the purpose: to fry food. I used the French fries preset on the control panel. In the middle of the cooking cycle, the fryer beeps, telling me it’s time to shake the basket to move the French fries so that it cooks evenly. I did it, I have to say, they are great fries. Great, they disappeared before I took the picture. I even used it to reheat some fries that I took home as leftovers, and it turned out great. The “warm” function keeps my fries hot until I finish the rest of the meal. I appreciate this because the time for fries is everything.

One of the selling points of this air fryer is the ability to perform hands-free control via Alexa or Google. I personally find it difficult to appreciate this feature. I think the idea is that you can preheat the air fryer hands-free, but for everything else, your hands are already involved because you have to take out the frying basket and load it, and then put it back in the air fryer. However, in the name of testing, I tried to get Alexa to start the air fryer many times, but the results were disappointing. The manual doesn’t really give you any suggested phrases, so I’m not sure that Alexa might understand what to say. I tried “Alexa, preheat the air fryer to 350 degrees”, I tried “Alexa, let SmartLife turn on the air fryer.” No matter what phrase I tried, Alexa either said she didn’t understand it or said “you’re welcome “But nothing was done. I hope that there are some example commands in the manual so that I know the magic phrases to use. This is not a feature I can see that I use often, so it’s no big deal that I can’t make it work (for me).
Food can also start cooking four hours in advance, which is another feature I don’t see myself, but I think I should mention it in case someone else needs it.

Another item missing from the instruction manual is the flat non-stick grate that comes with the oven. Packaged individually, I didn’t know what it was until I watched the promotional video on the Amazon page where the air fryer was sold. It is not mentioned at all in the manual. It turns out that it fits the bottom of the air fryer, allowing hot air to circulate under the food. I didn’t know what it did when I was repairing the turkey burger, so you will see that there is no grate in these photos.
I think one of the very good features is the ability to throw baskets and grate into the dishwasher. Although I think it is easy to clean by hand (due to the non-stick surface), it is a good choice.
what do I like:
- Easy to clean
- Clear reading on the top of the fryer
- Phone notification
- good grade
What will I change:
- More detailed instructions (using cooking grate and Alexa)
- Maybe if it has a different color, it won’t show dust.
Final thoughts:
Although I don’t think I would want an air fryer, I found that this versatile kitchen has a lot to like. Ultenic K10 5.3QT air fryer has many useful functions, I really like to try it!
