Redmi Buds 3 review
Generalize
If you like the open design of Airpod and want something cheap, then this is a good choice.
advantage
- If you like open earplugs, they have a good price/performance ratio
I recently reviewed the Redmi Smart Band Pro, which is a good but possibly inconspicuous fitness band, very similar to Mi Band 6.
I also received Redmi Buds 3, which is an affordable true wireless earbuds with Airpodesque design. The price is less than £40, these are all within the budget, for those who don’t want to pay for Apple’s high price, this may be a good choice.

Design and fit
The only way to summarize these is that they are clones of Apple Airpod.
The open design without silicone earplugs is not my favorite style of earplugs. My ears are large, and I think this also applies to the entrance of the ear canal where the earplugs fit. Therefore, I find it difficult to adapt to this style well. On the contrary, my partner will not use anything other than this design.
Due to my fit problem, I cannot use these for sports such as running, but my partner did try them in a short-term fitness course and found that the fit is no problem for her, and they will not quit.

Sound quality
The sound quality is pretty good. The open fit feature provides a different sound profile than the passive sealed earphones I prefer. You will lose a bit of bass, but as the sound field improves and environmental awareness increases, you can get that airy feeling.
Some people may find that the reduced bass is a bonus. Most cheap earbuds emphasize bass, usually at the expense of other frequencies. Compared to many other cheap sealed earplugs, they provide a better balance and have a pleasant midrange and some bright but not harsh highs.
Battery and other functions

These earplugs are rated for 5 hours and the housing is rated for 20 hours. It is a bit low-end to my liking, but most earbuds at this price have similar battery life.
I usually only use earplugs for a long time for fitness, which may be a few hours. In this case, I did not encounter any problems and they would die on me because I did not use them for any endurance-related activities.
If you have a Xiaomi or Redmi phone running MIUI, then you should be able to use functions such as pop-up and pairing. I had to do things the old-fashioned way, but in general there was no problem with pairing or connecting.
Prices and alternatives
The supply of Redmi Buds 3 in the UK is limited, but the price seems to be between 30 and 40 pounds
This puts them at the low end of the spectrum, and if you like the Apple-style open design, they may be a good choice.
The best option I can find is SoundPEATS TrueAir2, which currently sells for £37 on Amazon, but with a 20% discount. They have the same design style, the same Qualcomm chipset, battery life and microphone, but they have a larger 14.2 mm biocomposite diaphragm driver. SoundPEATS is usually a safe bet, and the main advantage here is that you can buy them through Amazon Prime instead of messing around on grey import sites.
There is also the JBL Tune 225, which is currently priced at £40 and claims a 60% discount.
comprehensive
I always find it a little difficult to make cheap earplugs summer. In recent years, most of these cheap earplugs have been surprisingly good, much better than the small sound of the past. Therefore, it is difficult to criticize them too much when you pay less than £40.
This applies here. If you like the open design of Airpod and want something cheap, then this is a good choice.
As far as the open installation is concerned, the sound quality is quite good. Because of this fit, the performance will vary from person to person. The battery life is sufficient. The IP ratings are always good, and they worked without problems during my testing.
