Review – We have been living in our current home for more than 20 years. During that time, we have never lit up Christmas lights. why? Probably the main reason is that I don’t have an outdoor power outlet, and I don’t want to plug the extension cord into the garage. Is there any solution? You bet there is. It is a Venusop outdoor LED solar string light. Today I want to tell you all about them. Let’s go!
What is it?
Venusop outdoor LED solar light strings are LED bulbs connected in series that use a small solar panel to collect electricity during the day to light them when the sun goes down.
What’s in the box?

- Venusop outdoor LED solar string light
- Solar panels with ground piles
- Mounting screws
- Extra bulb
Design and features
Venusop sent me two sets of their outdoor LED solar string lights. Except for the shape and number of bulbs in each string, each group is basically the same.first of all Venusop S14 Outdoor LED Solar String Light.

The Venusop S14 outdoor LED solar string light is a 48-foot-long string light with 15 teardrop-shaped bulbs.
There is a label with a hole on the bottom of each bulb so you can hang the lamp on a hook or nail.
The lamp set is designed for outdoor use and is completely waterproof.

Each set is equipped with a small solar panel that collects sunlight during the day to charge the internal battery, and then uses it to power the LED bulbs at night.

There is a mounting base with holes on the back of the solar panel, you can use it to fix it to the wall, or you can insert the attached plastic grounding stake into the hole of the mounting base, and then put the panel on the hard board. You can also adjust the angle of the panel to get the best sunlight.

There are two buttons on the back of the solar panel. One is the power switch, and the other button is used to cycle between 4 lighting/light animation modes.

On the side of the solar panel is a micro USB port that you can use to charge the internal battery of the solar panel. I did it once before setting up everything outdoors, but I haven’t done it again since the first time.
Venus Star G40 Outdoor LED Solar String Light

Venusop also sent me their G40 lamp set. This set is the same as the S14 set. Only 25 bulbs are smaller than the other set. They are round and have a string length of only 27 feet. The bulbs are spaced every 12 inches.

These bulbs also have a small clip on the side instead of a label with a hole.
Install Venusop light string

As mentioned earlier, I have no experience in hanging outdoor lights, so I just wrapped them around the end posts of my front porch and used the existing hooks we used for wind chimes.

Then I put the solar panels in the yard and connected the ends of the light string.

For the Venusop G40 outdoor LED solar light string, I wrapped them on a board on the built-in deck seat.Although it is not enough to wrap the entire deck, I can always buy another rope and attach it to the end of the existing rope (this is no An option in the other group). I’m pretty sure that connecting an extra string of lights means that the light won’t stay on for half the time, because it will draw more power from the solar panel’s battery.

I put the solar panels on the deck railing, and then I waited for the sun to go down…
See it in action
In the video above, you will see me looping through 4 light animation modes. I don’t know you, but I don’t like any mode other than the default always-on mode. The other modes are too harsh. It would be great if there is a light chase mode.
Potential problems with the G40 set

In the past few weeks, both of my devices were outdoors, where the temperature was as low as 20 degrees to 60 degrees (Fahrenheit). During their establishment, we have also experienced wind and rain. Today, when I went outside to take photos of G40 clips, I noticed that most of the G40 bulbs had condensation inside. If this causes any problems, not just their appearance, I will report them in a few weeks.
How long does the Venusop lamp stay on every night?
The solar panels are charging all day long (assuming there is sunlight), and then the lights will automatically turn on when it gets dark. They will stay for 6-8 hours. It only depends on how much the internal battery of the solar panel can be charged during the day. One day, our sky was gray all day, it was raining, and the two light bulbs were off that night. But when the sun came out the next day, they worked normally.
what do I like
- The included solar panel means you can freely illuminate without extending the extension cord
- Easy to install
What will i change
- Better lighting patterns/animations
Final thoughts
I really like the Venusop outdoor LED solar string light. They are easy to install, and the fact that they operate in the sun is a huge advantage. I like them so much that I am considering buying another G4 to expand the lights I installed on the built-in decks.
