review – I love the look of a leather jacket. However, where I live in South Texas, we have a winter that can’t make up our minds. One day we were in the 80s and the next day we were in the high 40s. Cold snaps don’t usually last more than a few days, and we’ll hit the par highs around the 60s. Deducting last year’s bizarre “snowstorm”, we never encountered any kind of freezing precipitation. I’ve always wanted a lightweight leather jacket. I also don’t want to pay any price for it. When Angel Jackets offered one of their jackets for review, I jumped in to see if it met my criteria.
What is it?
The Angel Jackets Rachel Leather Jacket is a jacket made from 100% lambskin. It does not have any additional thermal lining. It comes in three colors: the cognac I received, black and maroon.
What’s in the box?

This jacket does not come in a box. It comes in a nice zipper bag that comes in a shipping pouch. The edge of the bag has a wire that helps hold the jacket in place. I was so excited to get my hands on this jacket that I took it out of my bag before I remembered I needed to take a photo. My only complaint about the shipping material is that the bag is not recyclable and I didn’t actually use it after removing the jacket.
Hardware Specifications
- 100% genuine lambskin leather.
- The interior is fully lined in skin-friendly viscose.
- Stand collar with padded detailing.
- Two zippered pockets for carrying travel items.
Design and Features
I took a few pictures of the jacket from the front, back and inside to give you a closer look at the details. The first photo is the front of the jacket. I personally think it has a sporty feel with its two small front pockets (they can hold a micro wallet not much bigger than a credit card). It has a stand collar and lightly padded shoulders.

The back of the jacket has more stitching and slightly padded accents. You can also see that you can further adjust the waist using the snap buttons and straps on the sides. From the back, there are also zippers on the ends of the arms. I tried it on with a lightweight polo shirt and found that I didn’t need to unzip the jacket to put it on.

This photo shows a close-up of the shoulder pad area. This is very light padding. I think giving it some texture is enough. I found no flaws in the stitching on this jacket.

The zippers are not YKK, but I found them to be very sturdy and work well. Here is a photo of the inside of the front pocket of the jacket. It’s just under four and a half inches deep and about seven inches wide. It’s lined with the same material as the inside of the jacket, a satin-like material.

The next image shows a close-up of the adjustable snap. At this point, they are adjusted to allow more room at the bottom of the jacket. When I put it on, I snapped both straps to the inner snaps.

Here is a picture of the cuff zipper. Unzip the zip to reveal the extra leather flap. So the zipper won’t fully open the cuff. I find the sleeves are wide enough that I never untie them. Even wearing a fleece under the jacket doesn’t require me to unzip the sleeves.

I also took a photo to show you the details on the back of the jacket. The same type of padding/stitching can be found there.

I took a photo of the collar to let you know how thin the jacket is. The jacket is made of lambskin, not cowhide. This jacket is super soft. I’ve never had the strong leather smell that some jackets can smell.

Here is a close-up photo of the top label on the inside of the jacket.

A nice feature of this jacket is that there is an inner pocket for your phone. I have an iPhone 11 Pro. I put it in a leather flip-top box with three credit cards, a Medicare card and my ID. It makes the phone very bulky.

You can see the whole thing is packed in that jacket pocket. The outside dimensions of the pocket are six inches by four and a half inches.

Finally, I took a close-up photo of the liner. You can see how well it is stitched to the leather. I found the liner to be very smooth and soft to the touch.

Performance
I really like the fit and feel of this jacket. I have an XL. My only small complaint is that I wish the sleeves were a little smaller at the end. It’s possible I could wear a plus size, but I plan to wear this jacket when I have long sleeves and maybe a sweater or cardigan. In this photo, I’m only wearing a very thin polo shirt.

what do I like
- very soft jacket
- No overwhelming leather smell
- Well constructed and has an inner pocket for my phone.
- I think its price is good.
- This is perfect for climates that usually only have cold temperatures. It’s not designed for cold weather or sub-zero climates!
Areas for improvement
- The sleeve ends may be a little narrower depending on my taste.
final thoughts
I really love the Angel Jacket Rachel jacket and have worn it several times. Probably next year I’ll see if I can get a black version of their jacket. They have tons of designs and styles to choose from for both men and women.
