Airbus and Singapore’s Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA) signed an agreement at the Singapore Airshow to advance the joint development of digital solutions for military aircraft platforms.

The two parties will extend the first cooperation agreement signed in 2018 to strengthen technical exchanges and cooperation to develop digital products and services to optimize the maintenance and availability of the Republic of Singapore Air Force Airbus fleet. Collaboration will be fostered in the design and certification of parts produced by additive manufacturing, as well as data analysis for predictive maintenance.

“This agreement builds on an outstanding partnership driven by innovation and digitalization. We are delighted to have a trusted first officer on this digital journey and look forward to enhancing the operational capabilities of end-user fleets,” said Air said Michael Schoellhorn, CEO of Bus Defence and Space.

The parties will also jointly develop and implement new data pipeline capabilities to facilitate the transfer of digitized data sets to improve fleet efficiency.

In particular, the partnership will leverage Airbus’ enterprise SmartForce suite of maintenance data analytics to simplify fleet maintenance and operations. The parties will also explore the shared use of existing in-service aircraft information system data.

The joint development will support the Republic of Singapore Air Force’s fleet of A330 multi-role tanker transport aircraft and H225M medium lift helicopters.
