Today, Redmagic announced the global release of their latest gaming phone, Red Devils 7 series.
I’ve been using Redmagic 7 for the past few weeks and have reviewed both of these before Red Magic 6s Pro & 6R.
Often with these benchmark comparisons, I get a general idea of how a particular chipset is performing compared to others. However, with gaming phones from companies like Redmagic, the chipset tends to run at maximum power with less thermal throttling. So several of these benchmarks don’t give a good indication of how the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 will perform on other phones.
I also added Real Me GT 5G Benchmark with Snapdragon 888. This should be a great example of how Redmagic tweaks the phone.

This is the first phone I’ve ever used to break the million mark. That’s 14% higher than the Redmagic 6S Pro, 20% higher than the 6R, and 25% higher than the Realme.

This is by far the most interesting benchmark. There’s a lot to consider here.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is an absolute beast of a gaming chipset, scoring 67 percent better than the previous generation. This isn’t an outlier either, with the Motorola Edge X30, Realme GT2 Pro, and OnePlus 10 Pro all posting official scores below 10K.
Then we have stability. Compared to the Redmagic 6S Pro, the Redmagic 7 is down, but still a lot better than the other phones. Compared to the aforementioned phones, the OnePlus 10 Pro performed the best with 64% stability. The Snapdragon 888 on the Realme GT only manages 55% stability.
This stability score is an example of how Redmagic can tweak the phone differently. They let them run at peak performance, but that has a negative impact on the battery.
In terms of temperature, the RedMagic 7 and 6S Pro have active cooling, while Red Magic 6R The Realme is a normal phone that is completely silent.
Looking at the temperature, it’s clear that active cooling makes a huge difference. Redmagic 7 is as cool as Realme, but doesn’t need to cap performance. It also stayed 3 degrees cooler than the previous generation.
The downside is that the huge 10K score and 97% stability mean the battery dropped 31% in the 20-minute stress test, which is a lot more than previous generations.

Geekbench is less exciting. Obviously, the CPU of the Snapdragon 888 has not changed much. Single core has a 4% difference compared to SD888+ and 8-10% difference to SD888.
Multi-core looks even less impressive, less than 1% compared to SD888+ and 8-11% compared to SD888.
PCMark 2.0 & PCMark 2.0 Batteries
I decided not to publish these benchmarks properly because they are inaccurate. Each phone handles PCMark’s various workloads differently. Some behavior can be very suspicious. Some phones have lower PCMark scores than incredible battery life. Others scored huge PCMark scores compared to the poor battery.
The Realme GT scored over 16K in a single PCMark run, but in the battery test, dropped performance to an average of 11K, and then gained 13 hours of battery life.
For the Redmagic 6R and 6S Pro, the PCMark 2.0 battery crashed at the end, and it seemed to happen at the end of the roughly 8-hour test. For the Redmagic 7, I had it run through the battery test running at 120Hz, but it only ran for 5 hours.

If you want the best possible gaming performance, the Redmagic 7 with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is almost certainly the best option on the market right now. It’s also likely to stay that way for most of the year. There is no other brand integrated fan, which clearly has the advantage of sustained performance.
Unfortunately, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 suffers from the same issues as last year. It’s very power hungry, and viewing 3Dmark results at full speed consumes more battery than its predecessors.
For daily use, I haven’t had too many issues and I can pretty much get to the end of the day. I’m not sure if the Redmagic 7 Pro will be available globally, but based on the price, I’d definitely be tempted by its larger 5000mAh battery.
