Even if you’re not a student, I bet you take notes or make lists a lot. Rocketbook Notebook

If you’re not ready to go fully digital, Rocketbook notebooks combine the traditional pen and paper feel with digital magic, allowing you to easily scan and share your notes via an app on your smartphone.

Rocketbook notebooks are spiral-bound notebooks available in a variety of sizes and types. From small pocket pads, to 8.5 x 11″ letter or 6.0 x 8.8″ sized notebooks, there are 32 – 38 reusable liner, dot grid or blank sheets. There are even Rocketbooks, which are set up like a planner with a blank calendar page.

Each Rocketbook comes with a Pilot Frixion pen that allows you to write down notes, then scan the pages and easily clean the notes on paper with a damp cloth (included).

There are little icons at the bottom of every page that you can select to automatically send your handwriting to your handwriting via email or cloud services such as Evernote, Google Drive, Dropbox, OneNote, OneDrive, Trello, Slack, Box, iCloud, or Messages Notes are sent to the destination. There is even an option to transcribe your notes to text using OCR (Optical Character Recognition).

The smartpen works with a high-quality notebook that has specially coded pages with small dots that the camera built into the pen then uses to record your handwritten notes. The NeoLab system is more expensive than the Rocketbook, but what you get is an analog notebook and a digital copy. NeoLab software is more powerful than Rocketbook’s software because it lets you edit digital notes and search text more easily.

If you don’t want to buy anything but still want to be able to convert your handwritten text into searchable digital text, Google Keep is a great free app for iOS and Android. Just write notes on paper, then take a photo with your phone and save to Keep.

Once it’s in Keep, the text in that image is searchable, and it works great even with my weird mixed cursive typography. In the picture above, I searched for the word “centra” and it found it in two pictures I took from a handwritten journal page. Another great thing about Keep is that you can use it on your desktop too, just go to keep.google.com.

Do you have a way to digitize your analog notes? If so, please share in the comments below as I’m always looking for more ways to combine my love of analog tools with digital tools for increased productivity.
