How to Prepare Your Garden for Spring

*This is a collaborative post.

Spring is here, you can pull out the chaise longues and make the most of your outdoor space. Before you start grilling, though, you need to tidy up the place. To help you prepare your garden for spring, we’ve shared some tips from topsoil suppliers below.

cleaning

After months of hibernating indoors, your garden may need a little cleaning. In addition to being aesthetically pleasing, this is important to prevent disease from developing and infecting the plant. These can linger on dead leaves and stalks for a while, which is why they need grooming.

Lawn Care

The next step is raking and caring for your lawn. Lawns with clutter build up can become waterlogged and need food to thrive. Give your lawn a good rake, let it breathe before and after mowing, and finally shower with some feed.

Revive your garden furniture

Your garden furniture may also need some TLC. For plastic, you can remove dirt and grime with warm soapy water, while your wood will need some wood oil. This will protect them as you can keep them outside in warm weather by giving them a seal.

lurking pests

In order for your garden to grow beautifully, you can’t leave anything to chance. Check around your garden for bugs hiding behind leaves and use professional treatments to get rid of those pesky bugs.

strip your flower bed

Tidy up flower beds and pots by removing weeds and clutter. Everything but weeds can go into the compost bin to naturally decompose and turn into something of value. This is because the weeds will sprout and cause you to worry more later. When you’re done, you can sprinkle any winter compost or compost you purchased on top for added nutrients.
