Design and Features

PLOTTER USA offers ring binders in 4 sizes. Available in A5 size, Bible size, Narrow size and Mini size I want to see.

The mini-sized binder is similar in size to the popular Field Notes notebook.

In addition to different sizes, PLOTTER USA also offers 3 leather types of binders, available in a variety of colors. The mini size binder they sent me for review is made from their Pueblo leather. This thick and flexible Italian leather has a matte suede-like texture that gets darker and shinier over time.

It’s easy to see that this hand-polished leather is very high quality, both in feel and smell.

The back panel (spine) of the PLOTTER USA is a strip of gold-plated brass with the PLOTTER logo on top.

The rings inside the cover are also gold-plated, although the images make them look more like silver than gold.

The binder mechanism has 6 very small rings with opening tabs on each end. Due to the small size of the ring, the mini-size binder will only hold up to 80 sheets of POTTER USA’s light beige Japanese paper.

PLOTTER USA sells their own inserts and accessories for their binders, and they sent me a small selection, including project manager folders, leather ring holders, ruler pads, and to-do list memo pads.

The Project Manager Folders ($5.20) pack includes 6 colored folders.

These folders are intended to contain a series of papers as a way of grouping and organizing projects.

Each folder can also be used as an index and project timeline manager.

The To Do List Notepad ($5.20) has 50 sheets of thin Japanese paper.

Notepads are actually bound, not made of loose paper. Each page has multiple lines to write your to-dos (tasks), and each page has a section on the right to mark the percentage you’ve completed while working on each task.

PLOTTER also sent me their Leather Ring Holder ($9.20), which is made of black leather and is designed to reduce the impression of the leather caused by the binder rings when the PLOTTER binder is closed.

This piece of leather sits above the ring so that sticky notes and other inserts float above it.

Another accessory that PLOTTER sent me was the Ruler Pad ($5.00). The Ruler Pad is a clear plastic ruler and protractor. It also has character size reference and line weight charts. There’s even a tab on the top edge, so you can use it as a bookmark or index tab between pages.

The Ruler Pad has a split hole punch so you can easily remove or reposition it without opening the binder ring.

The PLOTTER USA 6-Ring Leather Binder (Mini Size) is perfectly constructed. The leather on my sample had no blemishes, but since leather is a natural product that means blemishes are not uncommon. You also need to wear, scratch, not baby this binder, because the more it wears over time, the better it will look.

what do I like

  • Gorgeous look (and smell!)
  • well made
  • Affordable inserts

what would i change

  • For the price, I would like to see at least one insert included in the binder

final thoughts

I’ve seen pictures of PLOTTER binders everywhere Instagram And curious if these binders are worth the money. I’m impressed with how they look after using them for a few weeks, but it’s hard to justify the price. Not everyone has the budget to spend $132 (and above) on an empty binder. Having said that, if you buy one of PLOTTER USA’s ring binders, I don’t think you’ll ever need to buy another because they last a lifetime. So I guess one of these binders could be considered a buy once, cry once product. However, I really wish they included at least a plugin or two. So your opinion is, would you pay over a hundred dollars for a mini pocket ring binder? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
