Design and Features
As far as looks go, the Go Work headphones are fairly simple. They feature a standard over-ear design with a swivel boom mic that folds away when not in use. The padded earcups sit directly on the ear and have a soft faux leather feel for a very comfortable fit overall. They also feature cloud foam that fills the ear cups and overhead strap.
I’m not the biggest fan of standard headphones like this, and opt for in-ears when I can get away with using them, but as far as headphones go, the Go Works are pretty comfortable.

I’ve never noticed my ears get too hot with prolonged wear. Usually I wear them in meetings, which tend to only last an hour or so, and during that time, Go Works are easy to forget.
One thing that reminds me of their presence is seeing a little video of myself in the corner, which is one of my favorite features of this headset, the LED mute indicator. Just press the logo on the right earpiece and the microphone will be muted and the red LED on the top of the boom will light up to visually remind you of this fact. (No more “you’re on mute” comments!)
It’s important to remember that this is a hardware feature, so even if you’re not muting the headset mic, you can still be in your chat software. I managed to disable all the “mute on join” toggles and started trusting the mute feature on my headphones, which is great. The little red light floating down from under my mouth can be seen on the camera and on the edge of my vision. I really like this feature.

Another unique feature of the mic is that you can triple-press the talk/answer/pause button to turn on the “Hear Your Voice” feature, which pumps audio from the mic into the headset.I’ve used gaming headsets with the same functionality great. It feels more natural to hear yourself in the headphones, as if you weren’t wearing headphones at all, rather than sound like you’re speaking underwater.
Overall, the sound quality is ok. JLab includes a dual EQ switch, you can switch between them voice and music settings, but the difference between the two is minimal. It’s also worth noting that since these are over-the-ear headphones, if you turn the volume up enough, there may be sound leakage. This can be unsettling to anyone sitting nearby. Earcups that don’t have noise cancellation and surround and seal the ears also allow external noise to leak out. I guess that’s not a problem for most people.
I tested wired versus wireless, and the only difference I noticed is that wired versus bluetooth is easier and faster, but the sound quality and functionality are the same.
The microphone itself provided decent voice quality, and I could hear me most of the time with little background noise. It’s worth noting that I work alone in a quiet place most of the day, so I don’t have a chance to see how much noise the mic suppresses…but that sort of thing is possible in most chat software setups anyway regulated.
The best use case for the Go Work headset is as a dedicated voice chat device.it Do They’re fine for general headset use, like watching videos or listening to music, but where they really shine is in all online meetings, even those that should be just email.
what do I like
- Voice mixed into headphone audio
- Dedicated mute button with visual indicator
- very comfortable
- good price
what would i change
- medium sound quality
- If the volume is turned up, others can hear the sound
final thoughts
The Go Work Wireless Headphones are a rugged, small communications device with practicalities like longer battery life, a visual mute indicator, and built-in voice-to-speaker functionality. They’re inexpensive, comfortable, and “just work” as long as you’re not looking for great audio quality. Bring a pair of noise-cancelling earbuds for listening to music and Go Works for meetings.
