ShiftCam ProGrip Review Ratings
generalize
The ShiftCam ProGrip turned out to be much better than I expected. I’m a bit pricey, but it helps a lot with photography, the wireless charging and the stand feature are very useful.
advantage
- Really helps with photography.
- Wireless charging avoids heavy battery drain from using the camera all day
- The stand function is surprisingly useless
shortcoming
- its quite expensive
- Pretty big, you won’t be putting it in your pocket
ShiftCam adopts the famous photography adage, “The best camera is the one that’s always with you”.
They are known for their multi-lens case for iPhone, which provides 6 camera-enhancing lenses in 1 handy and portable iPhone case. They have an impressive set of lenses including a 60mm telephoto, 18mm wide angle, fisheye, 10x macro and 1.33x anamorphic which are suitable for cinematography.
They also developed a universal lens mount for us ordinary people who don’t have an iPhone.

ShiftCam ProGrip Features
The ProGrip is a relatively simple device. It’s an ergonomically designed phone stand with a built-in wireless charger and a camera button that connects via Bluetooth.
It’s not as fancy as the increasingly popular gimbal we’ve seen.
However, it is well thought out.

The handle has a built-in 6400mAh battery, which can charge the phone when installed. This should easily offset the heavy battery drain that comes with photography.
The phone can be rotated from landscape to portrait while maintaining a neutral DSLR grip and charging.
When not in use, the device’s handle acts as a phone stand and leans back a little to give you a comfortable viewing angle. I found this especially useful on a recent trip, allowing me to watch Netflix while charging my phone.
The handle also has two ¼” screw holes, one occupied by the hand strap.

is using

i use this pixel 6 and OPPO Find X5 Pro. Both phones work perfectly, just connect the phone and the shutter button in the camera app works.
With the OPPO and its multiple cameras, I found that I had to pull the phone out a bit to avoid the stand blocking the camera. Out of the case, the phone is slippery and seems to need an occasional adjustment. However, as the case progressed, I had no issues.
Initial impressions were not that impressive. It’s just a mount and camera shutter button. It’s comfortable to hold, but I find it bulky and inconvenient to carry around.

However, I did grow up liking it. If you know you’ll be out taking pictures all day (like on vacation), it’s well worth taking with you. The charger will keep your phone going through a day of photography.
The grip also really improves the quality of your shots, or in my case, minimizes all the bad pictures I take. For me, I think the process of holding the phone and tapping the screen has a tendency to ruin the shot. I feel like my hands are shaking a little and I’m generally useless. ProGrip minimizes, if not eliminates, this problem for me.
The stand works great, I use it on trains and planes to charge my phone while watching Netflix.
Price and Alternatives
Currently, the ShiftCam ProGrip is available in limited supply in the UK. It should be on sale for £130 from Amazon at some point. It is available directly from ShiftCam for $149.99.
The Pictar Pro Camera Grip costs around £164 and has many extras that the ProGrip lacks. However, it seems to rely heavily on the Pictar app, and I prefer to stick with the stock app. It also lacks portrait mode and useful standing ability.
There’s also the more affordable Pictar OnePlus Mark II, but it lacks wireless charging and appears to be limited by phone compatibility.
Then there’s the Pictar Smart Grip, which is more basic and requires just one shot button.
overall
At first I was sure it wasn’t the ShiftCam ProGrip, it looked expensive. However, I’ve come to like it more and more, and if you’re spending over £100 on a phone with a fancy camera, it doesn’t seem ridiculous to spend £100+ for the best performance.
It really improves my consistency with a decent phone. I have fewer blurry shots and no random fingers in my photos. Then, wireless charging ensures your phone keeps running through the course of a day’s shooting.
