Review – Orico AT150 Outdoor Portable Power Station. Is it weatherproof? Well, no, but it’s a good power source for multiple simultaneous devices charging or operating. It has an AC outlet so you can use your shaver for Zoom calls while camping!

We review some honkin’ big power station Around here, this is not one of them. This may be its advantage. The Orico AT150 Outdoor Portable Power Station can be carried in a backpack or suitcase. 3 pounds, of course it can fit In a briefcase, but you may not feel comfortable carrying it that way. I’ll show you how I use the Orico power station and you can see if it works for you.

What is it
The Orico Outdoor Portable Power Station is a high-capacity, rechargeable power brick. At 3 pounds, it comes with multiple output ports to meet the needs of laptops, small desk lamps, camping refrigerators, and most equipment charging needs. All of these at once? Maybe, but they probably won’t be running all night.

what’s in the box
Orico power station, AC charging cable/charger, auto accessories outlet cable and instructions. (The Orico website states that a cable is included to charge the power station from a car power source. Such a cable is not included in the review package.)

test and observe
size
The size and 3-pound weight of the Orico Power Station may limit portability for some users, but to have a capacity of 39,000 mAh, it needs to be quite heavy. It’s not stressful to move it. It just needs a handle.
put up
The exterior of the Orico Power Station is a matte aluminium alloy. It has an attractive appearance, but is a little slippery to hold. I might assemble a DIY handle. Where are my bike tubes and zippers?

Durability
The Orico AT150 Outdoor Portable Power Station has the “Outdoor” designation but does not have an IP rating. There is no product claim in the packaging or on the website that it is weatherproof. The construction is solid, but I don’t see any weathering of the casing. I recommend keeping it very dry. It needs to be your good weather friend.
Not to pile on, however, I think it would be very risky to call this project “outdoors”. I don’t want mine to get wet. It has openings on both ends to accommodate passive and active airflow (when the fan is on), these openings will be the water inlets, as will the ports and plugs.

capacity
The website shows that the Orico power station has a capacity of 39,000 mAh at 3.7 volts. The capacity marking on the device says “11.1V/13Ah 144.3Wh” (11.1V/13Ah 144Wh).

Operation
The Orico power station works with one touch as its only slightly moving part. A short press of the power button activates all DC power output ports. A long press of the button activates the AC outlet and DC port. DC and AC devices can be charged at the same time. When the Power Station is on, a single button press turns off the DC port, and a long press turns off the AC plug and DC port.
I used the Orico Power Station to charge my 3700 mAh cell phone battery from 50% to 100% in about 65 minutes. The station was depleted from 100% to 91% in the process.
I charged my 4280 mAh Chromebook laptop battery from 50% to 100% in about an hour, and the Orico also dropped around 10% on this task.
The “wall wart”/plug body that comes with the charger can get very hot during charging at the Orico power station. I measured the plug body at 124 degrees with a digital cooking thermometer. But 124 degrees is not too hot or dangerously hot in my opinion. I am just reporting observations.
When using a device plugged into an Orico AC power plug, the fan is up and running almost full time. In the office, it’s not an unpleasant sound. I used the Sound Meter Phone app to set the fan volume to about 45dB on the front and 58dB on the AC plug end. The app refers to these levels as “Quiet Library” and “Quiet Office.” It’s almost inaudible outdoors. While charging a small device or two through the USB DC port, I didn’t notice the fan spinning.
My wife and I use the Orico power station indoors (gasp) while watching a movie and our three devices need to be charged at the same time. Orico Station puts all the power needed to charge two phones and an iPad within easy reach so we can get our devices close and continue watching British police solve crimes.

what do I like
- The ports are the type I use (except for the DC output).
- The unit is sturdy and professionally made.
- The capacity is perfect for my multi-device charging needs.
- During my testing, the device worked flawlessly.
what would i change
- Make a wraparound handle for easy portability.
- Remove the “outdoor” designation from the product name unless it is IP rated.
- The car accessory plug (“Cigarette Lighter”) that comes with the Orico Power Station is referred to on the Orico website as the “Car Charger”. It’s actually an output cable and plug assembly that doesn’t charge the Power Station. It can power devices that can be plugged into car accessory plugs.

final thoughts
The Orico Outdoor Portable Power Station will be a useful addition to anyone’s camping or road trip gear. Whether it’s needed during a power outage, or as a convenient central power station for multiple devices when off-grid, it meets these challenges.
