Design and Features

The first thing you’ll notice about the Marvodiy Sea Salt Cheese Linear Mechanical Keyboard Switch is what MarvoDIY calls a “playful Pantone” colorway. The lower shell is sea blue, the upper shell is salt transparent, and the stem is cheese yellow, hence the name sea salt cheese. These colors definitely set them apart from most other options, and trust me, there are more of them coming every day. I’ve said it the most, but I’ll get to it right away.
The combination of materials used helps create the sound of the keys when pressed. I am very happy. I put them in the Keychron Q3 QMK, replacing the Gateron blues that were installed. The typing experience is very smooth, with a satisfying tapping feel. Will they win me over from the clickable tactile switch? Uh, um, I don’t think so. I prefer the click of the keys, but the sound they produce is delicious.
It’s hard to tell from the MarvoDIY website if these switches are made by them (I don’t think so) or just resold as exclusives. Looking at the top shell, you can see the HOM ∞. With a little research, I found out that they are most likely Haimu switches, a new Chinese brand founded by a former Kyle engineer. That’s why I say the sea salt cheese switch is different than most other options. Haimu makes a switch called the Sea Salt Lemon. The keys share some similarities, such as some color choices, build materials, and total travel. But there are enough differences that sea salt cheese can stand on its own. These have several advantages, they are cheaper at 0.39 cents vs. 0.67 cents per switch, and are actually in stock at the time of writing. There are 70 and 100 of them. I received 70, which is not enough to completely replace all the switches in 80% of my keyboards. I will buy more to make keyboards for my daughter who loves them too.

There are currently no reviews for the sea salt cheese switch on the MarvoDIY site, so you’re stuck with me. If you’re looking for a smooth, pre-lubricated linear switch, I think you can do worse. The price is good, the sound is great, and the typing experience is nice and smooth, but I digress.
