(Editor’s note: the following letter, Originally published on May 20, 2019, Was sent by a parent who wanted to share with California Governor Gavin Newson the heartbreak and damage his policies are causing to California families. Two years later, Newsom’s illegal, illogical, and unscientific executive order during the coronavirus pandemic will only exacerbate the destruction and heartbreak. An unprecedented number of families with children have left the state or planned to leave the state to make families. Falling apart, leaving grandparents heartbroken-not to mention the “brain drain” that the country will suffer. Due to the following reasons and the additional losses caused by the blockade, more than 2.1 million registered voters in the state signed a petition to remove Newsom, and the election was held on September 14, 2021. We are reprinting it because it is even more relevant today than the day it was originally published. )

Governor Newsom,
The boxes are full. The bags are all packed. My heart is broken. My family is about to split, separate, maybe forever. I hope you care.
Our good daughter, her husband and their two young children have given up their lives in California. The only place they once called home became unbearable for them. They found a new home in a southern state far from here, in the real America.
I have heard this story countless times-people have left, or want to leave, once the place of paradise on the west coast. Not long ago, children could walk to corner shops or schools without parents having to worry about their safe return. no longer.
You used to be able to visit a nearby park without worrying about your life. no longer. Walking across the street does not require careful inspection of the sidewalk to avoid feces or used hypodermic needles. This is indeed the case now.Seeing the disease again in this state Rare or non-existent until recently. Typhus, tuberculosis, mumps, measles, hepatitis A, B and C all reappear. A worker above the Los Angeles City Hall recently contracted typhus, which was spread by rats living in the disgusting environment around the city center.
But you are worried that I might need a plastic straw.
Your priorities for managing this state are very clear, and the middle class is nowhere near the top of the list. Many years ago, I learned in the citizenship class that the main job of the government is to ensure the safety of the people. what happened? When is our safety and well-being neglected? Not long ago, my daughter stole her new car from the driveway within a short time of sending her child to school. Someone is watching, waiting for them to leave. Just thinking about it makes me shudder.
You released violent criminals back to our streets and intimidated our communities; you proudly abolished the death penalty as an option, sending friendly messages to the worst and worst people; you handcuffed our law enforcement officers to challenge their Every move. Before using any force to arrest violent criminals, police officers must now spend a little more time, perhaps just a second, questioning their training and best judgment. When this leads to the death of another policeman-and it will-blood will get on your hands, sir.
A few weeks ago, we saw a violent felony lead the police on a three-hour hunt, destroying property, and almost losing pedestrians and other vehicles. We saw him Brutally beat his female passenger while driving at a speed close to 100 mph. Then last week, a The murder suspect shot the police from the car window He was chased in. It was a miracle that no one was killed. Facts have proved that both suspects were granted “early release” freedom through AB-109, and you and other politicians (they live behind the wall and have armed security guards) imposed it on us in the name of sympathy. Mr. Governor, where is your sympathy for law-abiding citizens?
Don’t let me start talking about taxes and regulations. The money this country takes from us is a crime. Living here is expensive enough, but imagine trying to run a business and make a living. We have the highest gasoline prices/taxes in the country, but our roads are still a mess. I recently hit a pothole and my car was damaged for more than $1,000.
We pay you huge sums of money to manage state affairs, but thousands of people sleep on our streets at night. Camps for the homeless are everywhere, in communities we never imagined. And, you want more. There is now a move to weaken Proposition 13. There is no doubt that it will pass. I just read that you now also want to tax online sales. And proposals to levy taxes on water, telephones, dairy products, fertilizers, medical care, etc. But taxing these things will not affect the “1% of the super-rich.” They are just more of a blow to the middle class. You Sacramento politicians have an insatiable appetite for other people’s money. But many citizens have had enough and are walking away.
This brought me back to my family.
They are going out of business here. You won’t get their hard-earned money anymore. They bought a house in NSW, enough for the four of them and one or two dogs. It might even be a horse. Children will be well educated. They will be able to open the window at night and know that the criminals are people who are afraid of the police, the courts, and citizens who exercise their right to self-defense. Oh, the gasoline there is about $2 per gallon. Somehow, they will have to survive without a fantasy train, but I believe they will find a way to survive.
At the same time, your tax base shrank, and Atlas shrugged. Soon, only very rich and very poor people were left here. It’s as if you planned it this way.
Now my family is as broken as countless others. There are no more school games, no more minor league games. IHOP no longer has weekend breakfast or Thanksgiving dinner. I will happily burn a ton of fossil fuel and visit them as often as possible in their new home. However, I will not be there as an instant nanny when I need it in a short period of time, and I will actually notice their growth from visit to visit. I will pray every night for their safety and happiness in the coming years. I cry because I can’t hold them tightly. I am very angry, I already miss them very much.
But they won’t get your departure card, and they won’t apologize. You don’t care at all.
