Pope Francis extended his blessing from the balcony of the windows of his tenth-floor hospital to the crowd gathered below to attend the Roman Sunday Clock.

The Vatican said on Monday that Pope Francis will stay in the hospital for a few more days after colon surgery.
Spokesperson Matteo Bruni said that Francis will be “in the hospital for a few more days to optimize medical and rehabilitation treatment.”
The 84-year-old underwent planned colon inflammation surgery on July 4. The next day, the Vatican stated that he expects to stay in Rome’s Gemelli University Hospital for at least 7 days.
On Sunday, the pope greeted the blessers on the balcony on the 10th floor of the hospital, where he delivered the Three Bell Sutra prayers to thank them for their support “from the bottom of my heart”.
Bruni said that he had visited children in a nearby cancer ward earlier, and some of them walked to the balcony with him and stood beside him.
Last week, the pope had a temporary fever after surgery for “severe diverticulum stenosis with sclerosing diverticulitis”.
However, chest and abdomen scans and other examinations found no special abnormalities.
A diverticulum is a small bump or pocket formed on the inner wall of the intestine. Diverticulitis occurs when they become inflamed or infected.
Hardening is usually defined as tissue hardening.
