Seamless integration of R&D and manufacturing
Glory Intelligent Manufacturing Industrial Park is the brand’s first self-owned factory. Equipped with state-of-the-art manufacturing and testing facilities, the campus supports all aspects of smartphone manufacturing and is integral to ensuring the brand’s premium product quality. 20% of the employees in the park are R&D personnel. Manage end-to-end quality control with the power of automation and intelligence
Automation reduces variations and defects caused by human error, thereby increasing consistency of quality. Honor Smart Manufacturing Industrial Park has industry-leading high-precision automated manufacturing technology, including an automatic precision assembly machine (for installing the 89° hyper-curved display used by Honor smartphones), with an assembly accuracy of 75 microns (about the diameter of 1 hair). ). The battery automatic assembly equipment adopts high-precision optical detection, which can detect foreign objects (as small as 40 microns) and monitor the pressure in real time to ensure the safety of the produced batteries and reduce the safety risks caused by manual operations. 75% of the production lines are automated, of which more than 40% are developed by HONOR’s own R&D team. HONOR’s automated production line takes a smartphone off the line every 28.5 seconds (cycle time).
Quality control from manufacturing to testing is ensured through close monitoring of every step of the assembly line. When an anomaly is detected, an alert is triggered, and the problem is then corrected in a timely manner. While common industry practice is to separate assembly and burn-in (offline burn-in process), HONOR uses an in-line burn-in process where assembly and burn-in are done in one process. HONOR’s process consists of more than 150 predictive tests that quickly identify quality issues and reduce turnaround and testing cycles.
HONOR adopts the concept of “manufacturing a supermarket” to build a lean and intelligent material distribution system. The real-time demand of the production line is linked to the intelligent selection of off-the-shelf components. As a result, colleagues can manage a fast and error-free material selection process, which is then automatically transported to production stations by automated guided vehicles (AGVs) across floors and inventory areas. After the product packaging is completed, the AGV’s intelligent dispatching system automatically picks up the product.
