Ingredients and Substitutes

- mayonnaise – I often use homemade mayonnaisebut this is my favourite Store bought brands when I don’t have time to make my own. You can also use plain Greek yogurt for a richer flavor.
- olive oil – You can also use avocado oil or any neutral oil you like. I try to avoid highly processed seed oils like vegetable or grapeseed oils, but they will work great from a recipe standpoint.
- Honey – I used unsweetened honey Keep this salad dressing low in carbs, but regular is fine too. You can also substitute any powdered sweetener of your choice.
- white vinegar – This will add flavor to the soup and help emulsify the dressing. You can also use white wine vinegar, apple cider vinegar, or lemon juice. I made this creamy poppy seed dressing from all of these ingredients I had on hand, and they all turned out great.
- poppy seeds – These add a nice and nutty flavor to the dressing…plus, it wouldn’t be a poppy seed dressing without them. 😉
- sea salt
Variation: Add Dijon mustard!
If you like, you can add 1-2 teaspoons of Dijon mustard to the dressing for a more complex flavor profile.
