Combining financial databases with press releases, news sources, clinic websites, and financial 10-K reports, the authors found that:
Between 2003 and 2022, 724 oncology clinics (53% of radiology clinics, 32% of medical clinics, 15% of multi-oncology clinics) were connected to PE-backed platform companies, accounting for an estimated 6,919 oncology clinic locations in the U.S. 10% of. At least 2060 oncologists (64% of physicians, 36% of radiologists) were affiliated with the clinic at the time of initial PE, representing an estimated 10% of practicing medical oncologists (1318 of 13531) and radiologists 15% of physicians (742 of 4886) were oncologists.
