The activists organized a blockade, which they said was the only hamburger production plant of McDonald’s in the UK.

Approximately 50 protesters from the animal rebellion, and Extinction Rebellion, Is urging people to join their camp outside the OSI Food Solutions site in Scunthorpe.

Activists climbed up the huge bamboo structure to prevent trucks from leaving the site, while others boarded the factory roof and lit flares. One of them was chained to a huge happy lunch box with a sad face painted on the side.

The group claims that the factory produces 3 million beef patties a day and is the only McDonald’s burger factory in the UK.

In a booklet, OSI described itself as the “exclusive supplier of red meat products” to the fast food giant’s 1,400 branches in the UK.

McDonald’s has been asked for comment.

According to local reports, despite the protests, workers are still producing in the factory.

In a statement, Animal Rebellion urged “everyone to join the camp to protest against McDonald’s record of destroying the environment, poor working conditions, and exploiting animals.”

Professor Joy Carter, Emeritus Professor of Geochemistry and Health at the University of Winchester, said: “There is no second chance to avoid climate collapse – we only have one chance to do this.”

“We need to fundamentally change our food system. It must start with the meat and dairy industries. We will continue to destroy our planet until we make large-scale systemic changes and switch to a plant-based food system. .”

Animal Rebellion stated that if McDonald’s “takes the first step” and promises to achieve 20% plant-based properties within a year, they will end the lockdown.
