The Smith Family Comics Continues – Episode 10 Out Now – William Mitchell – Modern Monetary Theory

Episode 10 of our new comic series – The Smith Family and Their Money Adventure – Available now. We're about to reach the climax of season one.

Have fun with it and distribute it to those you think would benefit…

The Smith family is a middle-class family living in a city in the world. Second generation parents are college educated and have professional careers. Their two children attend local public schools.

In Episode 10, the Smith family takes Mark Harding's taxi home from the airport.

Mark told the Smiths they now have access to the new tunnel, which was built with national government investment under an old industrial site that has been transformed into a new green corridor park, a new public hospital and a number of social housing.

Ryan was ecstatic because not only did he appreciate the wonderful engineering feat the government had accomplished, but he also recognized that the tunnel would save him a lot of time.

The children were delighted to have a new park to play in.

Kevin noted that the entire family and community will enjoy the benefits of this investment for years to come.

Elizabeth points out that the common argument that such investments are simply a future tax liability misses the point of all the benefits.

She doesn’t quite understand the tax angle yet, but is working on understanding it better.

Ryan, who has been so engrossed in episode 9 talking about the intergenerational tax burden on his children, forgets what he said in the previous sentence about the benefits he will enjoy and starts harping on his usual theme of what he will pay More taxes.

Elizabeth pointed out his inconsistencies.

Little Emma was right – “Now we have a park to play in!”

and provide additional amenities (parks, etc.) that will benefit the entire family for years to come.
