It concluded that Couzens’ actions “violated the standard of professional conduct regarding shameful conduct”.

Ms. Bauer said: “Kutzens betrayed everything our police supported, and after his confession and conviction, I fired him on Friday.

“All of us in the metropolis are shocked, sick and angry at this man’s crimes.

“Sarah is a young woman, her life was brutally taken away. I know that many people miss her very much, and our thoughts are still with the people she loves.

“we are very sorry.”

The force stated that a hearing was held shortly after Couzens pleaded guilty and convicted on July 9.

This happened after Couzens pleaded guilty to the murder of Old Bailey via a video link on Friday.

Everard, a 33-year-old marketing executive, caught her as he walked home on the streets of south London at night.

Couzens, an armed officer guarding royal family members and diplomats, used a rented car to kidnap Ms. Everard and dumped her body in a bag normally used for construction waste.
