Baseball has become a part of the Olympic Games for the first time in 13 years, and the United States is one of the strong contenders for the gold medal.Most American players have spent time in Major League Baseball register Among them are several World Series champions and several former All-Stars.
As a member of the US team, 24 players have gone to the Tokyo Olympics. Former Los Angeles Angels head coach Mike Scioscia leads a team with a name known to many casual baseball fans.
David Robertson, Edwin Jackson and Scott Kazmir are the most accomplished pitchers on the American team. Todd Frazier has the best resume of any player in all positions.

Robertson won the championship with the New York Yankees and was selected as an All-Star in 2011. The rescuer made 137 professional saves, only three years away from 91 strikeouts in 69.2 innings.
Kazmir led the team with 3 MLB All-Star appearances. The 37-year-old player has not been a stable member of the Major League Baseball rotation for five years, even though he did start twice for the San Francisco Giants this season.
Jackson won 107 games from 2003 to 2019.
Frazier is a two-time All-Star and the 2015 home run derby champion. The corner infielder hit 21 home runs two seasons ago and hit 0.684 OPS in 45 games last year.
And Tyler Austin, who hit 17 home runs in 69 games in Major League Baseball three years ago. From 2019 to 2020, outfielder Bubba Starling played 91 games for the Kansas City Royals.
Infielder Triston Casas is considered the best major league prospect for the US team. Casas hit 0.271/.354/.424 in 46 games for the double-A subsidiary of the Boston Red Sox this year, and hit 6 home runs in 46 games.
