Canada has announced some victories and defeats in the first day of the game Tokyo Olympics Saturday-including another victory for the women’s softball team and a disappointing start to men’s volleyball.

softball
The Canadian team defeated Australia 7-1 in the third softball game of the Olympic Games and achieved a 2-1 record in the round robin.
The Canadian team went out strongly, scoring three points in each of the first two innings, and blocked the Australian team for the rest of the game.
The team will play against Japan on Sunday and Monday to end the series. Canada is very hopeful of winning a place on the podium.

The three rowing teams are now guaranteed to advance to the semi-finals on Tuesday.
Canada’s Kylie Filmer and Hilary Johnson won the first preliminary round of the women’s double rowing competition, while Kay Langfield and Conlin McCabe finished third in the men’s double rowing competition.
In the women’s lightweight double sculls, Gil Moffat and Jennifer Carson ranked second. Only the top two automatically advance to the next round of the event.
Patrick Keane and Maxwell Latimer were not so lucky in the men’s lightweight double scull competition, they just missed the semi-final seats in third place. They will play against other lower-ranked teams in the rematch on Sunday to get another chance to advance.
Canada’s women’s fourth team and men’s fourth team won third and fifth places in their respective preliminaries, they also need to rematch.

Canada’s Laila Anne Fernandez defeated Ukraine’s Dayana Yastremska in the women’s singles and won the first and third sets of her debut.
However, in the first round of women’s doubles, Gabriela Dabrowski and Sharon Fishman lost to Brazil in the first two games of the three sets.
Taekwondo
Yvette Yong failed to defeat her opponent Thi Kim Tuyen Truong of Vietnam, who won the game 19-5.
