A policeman was stabbed in a possible terrorist attack in southern France

A French policeman was stabbed in a possible terrorist attack.

PARIS-The Minister of the Interior and police sources said that a French police officer was attacked on Monday by a man armed with a knife. The man claimed to act “in the name of the prophet” but was not injured.

An unnamed source said that at 06:30, when the attacker opened the door and stabbed him with a knife, the policeman was behind the steering wheel of a car and in front of the police station.

Sources have previously stated that their colleague was injured in the attack in the southern town of Cannes and saw the knife bearer being shot and wounded by another policeman.

Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin wrote on Twitter: “Fortunately, the stabbed policeman was not injured by the bulletproof vest.”

According to police sources, the incident was regarded as a possible terrorist attack, and Damanin announced that he would go to the scene.
