The ingredients you need

- brine -You need water and sea salt to make salt water. You need enough water to submerge the chicken (about 4 cups in a large bowl) and a tablespoon of salt per cup of water. This may seem like a lot, but almost not all of the salt can get into the chicken. This ratio helps to ensure that osmosis occurs, allowing as much water as possible into the chicken to get the best air fryer chicken breast. (I promise, the chicken will not taste too salty, you will rinse off the excess brine on the chicken before cooking.)
- olive oil – Brushing the chicken with oil will help prevent it from drying out. Any neutral oil, such as avocado oil, can also be used.
- spices – The basic ingredients I use are garlic powder (onion powder works well too), sea salt, chili powder and black pepper. See below for other seasoning options.

Seasoning tips: A good rule of thumb is 1/2 to 1 tablespoon of seasoning (including salt) per pound of chicken breast. My homemade mixture includes salt, but if yours does not, add about 3/4 to 1 teaspoon of salt per pound of chicken.

How to cook chicken breasts in an air fryer

- brine. In a large bowl, stir the salt into the water. Add raw chicken breast and soak in water. Leave the brine at room temperature for 10 minutes or in the refrigerator for one day. Can you cook frozen chicken breasts in an air fryer?
Yes, you can cook frozen chicken breasts in an air fryer. Defrosting and marinating it will give it a better flavor and definitely keep it juicy, but you can cook it directly from the frozen state. The cooking time will be close to 18-20 minutes.
