The federal complaint alleges that an American father accused of killing his two children with a harpoon gun claimed that he was “inspired” by QAnon and other conspiracy theories and was saving the world from “monsters” with “snake DNA”.

The complaint prepared by federal agents stated that 40-year-old Matthew Taylor Coleman told the California authorities that he knew he had done something wrong, but that “this is the only plan of action to save the world.”

Coleman was accused on Wednesday of taking his two-year-old children to Mexico and killing them there before returning to the United States, where he was arrested.

The children’s mother issued the first alarm on August 7, when Coleman took them away from their shared home. He said he took them camping, but refused to tell her where she was, and did not answer the phone or text messages. He also did not carry a child car seat with him.

A day later, the police tracked him using the “Find My iPhone” app, which showed that his last known location was Rosarito, Mexico.
