Special prayer will be at Plymouth On Sunday, the city mourned the five people killed in the shooting, which shocked and saddened the local community.
There are concerns about how the 22-year-old gunman Jack Davidson obtained a gun permit and went on a rampage before turning the gun on him.
To mourn the people who were shot and killed by Davidson, including his mother and a three-year-old girl, flowers, cute toys and candles were left near the scene in Keham.
church Pass through Devon Including St. Thomas Church in Keyham, they are expected to use their Sunday service to commemorate the victims, and a special prayer will be written by the Bishop of Exeter, Robert Atwell.
Father David Wei, the pastor of St. Thomas, told BBC Breakfast: “The most important thing is that we will pray for the victims.
“But the thing that has always troubled me is that I must also pray for Jack’s soul. As Christians, we must love our enemies and treat those who hurt us with love.
“So yes, the community is in my heart, the innocent dead are in my heart, in my prayers, but also everyone in this situation, I have to make sure we keep praying.”
A former chief of the Metropolitan Police Department said that police should search social media for the accounts of people who apply for gun licenses to ensure that “guns do not fall into the hands of dangerous people”.
Former commissioner Lord Stevens told the Sunday Telegraph that Davidson was “obviously a dangerous person” and added: “When he applies for a shotgun license, he should take into account the videos he makes.
“Online content needs to be trawled to in-depth evaluation of who these people are and what they think.”
Social media posts and interactions give people an insight into the thinking of a person interested in guns and the United States, and his use of social media shows his obsession with the “incel” culture, which means “involuntary celibacy.”
Elsewhere, the Liberal Democrats blamed the Secretary of the Interior Pritty Patel Hesitate to recommend tightening the rules for issuing licenses for firearms and shotguns.
The party stated that Ms. Patel has so far failed to follow the recommendations in the Ministry of the Interior’s consultation document, which requires a new suitability check before the issuance of a permit-despite warnings that the system has “fundamental flaws.”
A Conservative Party source shot back and accused the Liberal Democrats of “playing politics” a few days after the killing.
The Labour MP for Plymouth Sutton and Devonport, Luke Pollard, said local residents were “angry” over the way the atrocities occurred.
He told the BBC Breakfast: “I think people’s mood has changed from shock and suspicion to now feeling the profound loss of the five victims.
“But there is also a feeling of anger. Want to know about how to allow this to happen, why it happened, and whether there is an opportunity to prevent this from happening but not taken?
“We need to get answers from these people. It will take some time. The police need to have enough space to do it. But we need to make sure that the community gets the right answers because they deserve it.”
An investigation into Davidson’s possession of shotgun and firearm permits is already underway, and these permits were returned to him after being taken late last year.
After mandatory referrals by the Devon and Cornwall police, the police surveillance agency launched an investigation, which included preliminary information that Davidson’s guns and license were returned to him in early July this year.
The Independent Office of Police Conduct (IOPC) stated that the police took the certificate and shotgun in December 2020 after the attack occurred in September 2020.
However, it is reported that Davidson’s gun license was returned after attending an anger management course.
Mr. Labour Party Leader Kyle Starmer Welcomed the IOPC’s initiation of the investigation, but asked: “How exactly did he obtain a gun license?”
Davidson shot and killed his 51-year-old mother Maxine Davison, also known as Maxine Chapman, in a house on Biddick Drive. Then he walked down the street and shot 3-year-old Sophie Martyn and her 43-year-old father Lee Martyn.
In the 12-minute attack witnessed by horrified bystanders, Davidson then killed 59-year-old Stephen Washington in a nearby park, and then shot and killed 66-year-old Kate Shepard, who later died at Drifford Hospital.
Davidson also shot and killed two local residents who knew each other on Biddick Drive, a 33-year-old man and a 53-year-old woman. They were seriously injured but believed to be in no danger to their lives.
The Devon and Cornwall police said they received multiple calls about the incident at 6:11 pm on Thursday. Armed and unarmed police arrived at the scene within six minutes. Davidson was arrested at 6.23 pm Found death.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson called for an “appropriate investigation” of how gunmen legally owned guns and described the shooting as an “absolutely shocking” incident.
Devon and Cornwall police said on Saturday that they had launched an online page for those who might have information to assist in the investigation of the mass shooting.
The force added that the autopsy is ongoing and will continue until early next week.
It is believed that the mass shooting for which the police have not determined the motive began with a “family-related incident” between Davidson and his mother.
