Kabul-Witnesses told Reuters that at least five people were killed at Kabul Airport as hundreds of people tried to forcibly enter the plane leaving the Afghan capital.
An eyewitness said he saw the bodies of five people being taken to a car. Another witness said that it is not clear whether the victim died from the shooting or stampede.
A US official said that the US military in charge of the airport shot into the air earlier to disperse the crowd.
Officials could not be immediately reached for comment on the death.
