Ingredients and Substitutes

- salmon – Buy 5- to 6-ounce salmon fillets individually, or get a whole fillet and slice crosswise. Individual fillets cook more evenly (and faster!) than whole fillets. I prefer to use wild salmon with the skin on for the best flavor and nutrition (and grilled salmon has the crispiest skin!), but you can use any variety you like.Read more about choosing salmon in my post fried salmon.
- olive oil – You can also use avocado oilor any neutral cooking oil of your choice.
- lemon juice – I often use bottled lemon juice For convenience, but fresh lemon juice tastes even better! You can also use lime juice.
- garlic powder -Avoid using fresh garlic here as it may burn in the broiler heat.
- sea salt and black pepper

How to Grill Salmon

- Prepare. Preheat broiler. (If you have more than one setting, set it to High or 500°F.) Position oven rack 4-6 inches from heating element.circle around bakeware Use aluminum foil for easy cleanup. (A grill pan would work too, but many can’t handle the heat.)
- arrange. Place salmon skin side down on a baking sheet.
- season. brush Combine olive oil, lemon juice, garlic powder, sea salt, and black pepper. brush Salmon fillet with mixture.
Tip: Marinate for a few minutes for better flavor.
If you have time, let the seasoning mixture sit for 5 minutes before grilling the salmon to allow the fish to absorb the flavors.

How long to bake salmon?
Grill the salmon for 6-9 minutes, depending on your desired doneness.For best results, use the Instant Read Thermometer. The internal temperature should reach 135-140 degrees Fahrenheit for medium to medium good, or 140-145 degrees Fahrenheit for medium to well done.

- shop: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 days.
- Reheat: Cover loosely with foil and bake at 350°F for about 10 minutes, or until heated through. You can also reheat in the microwave, but it will probably be drier. To do this, wrap salmon in a damp paper towel and heat over high heat for about 1 minute, or until warm.
- freeze: Wrap each fillet in plastic wrap to prevent freezer burn and freeze for up to 3-4 months.
