We love Oxnard and were spoiled by the perfect weather on our recent trip. I grew up in California and it’s always a pleasure to visit familiar places and explore new things.Whether you’re planning a long weekend or dropping by for a day trip, here’s everything Best things to do in Oxnardincluding places to stay, the best beaches and top dining options.

Absolutely! If you love exploring hidden gems and escaping to uncrowded beaches, add Oxnard to your must-see list. You can rent a Duffy boat, kayak or paddleboard in Channel Islands Harbour for a fun and unique afternoon.

Does Oxnard have any nice beaches?

Silver Beach is one of my favorites. It’s a great place to have a picnic with the family, and you can walk to the end of the beach to see the frescoes and historic sites of the Layenne shipwreck.

Oxnard State Beach/Mandalay Beach It’s a great place to walk or bike along the trail overlooking the dunes. It’s like a perfect California postcard! If you’re traveling with kids, this is a great place to take a stroll with a stroller. Oxnard Beach Park also has a fun playground.

Where to Stay in Oxnard

we are at Hampton Inn Channel Islands Harbor. The hotel overlooks the Channel Islands harbour with superb marina views. The room is spacious and a portable cot is provided so you don’t have to bring your own. Featuring a heated pool and fitness center, the Hampton Inn is just steps from Peninsula Park. We visited the playground every morning and checked out the sea lions.

Hot Tips: They also offer a free hot breakfast with waffles, pastries, eggs, coffee, and more.

If you’re looking for an off the beaten path to explore, check out Janelle Shipwreck at the end of Silver Beach. This luxury cruise ship ran aground in 1970, and while most of the hull is buried, you can see the historic remains of the 467-foot ship.

Check out historical tours, concerts and wine tastings Heritage Square in downtown Oxnard. Here you’ll find 11 Victorian houses built between 1876 and 1912, a church, water tower, pump room and warehouse, which were moved to one block and restored to their original condition.

Settebello is always buzzing at dinner time. It’s in the Collection at RiverPark and they have great drinks and Napoletana style pizza.

Enjoy delicious coffee the way you like it, including cappuccino, matcha latte or cold brew.

BG’s Cafe

They serve breakfast here all day and the service is super friendly. Hungry because the portions are huge and you get unlimited coffee refills.

If you love fish tacos and seafood, you’ll love Sea Fresh. We enjoyed a meal on the outdoor benches overlooking the harbour and it was great.

Sushi Road

Sushi Way is nothing but your typical sushi restaurant. Located in downtown Oxnard, this place is a fusion of Japanese and Latin flavors. I ordered the “Snapchat me that sushi” roll and it was delicious.

Toppers is the place to go if you want pizza in Oxnard. This is one of my favorite places to eat in town.

If you like Brazilian food, this is the place to go. The service is great, the food is delicious and you must try their Caipirinha – a traditional Brazilian cocktail.

We had lunch at The Strandwich on Silver Strand and had a picnic on the beach. We ordered brisket sandwiches and lobster tacos.

Enjoy fresh seafood at Fishermen’s Catch at Seabridge Marketplace. We love the grilled fish plate and the spicy squid.

You can’t come to Oxnard without trying authentic Mexican food. These are some of my favorites:

They have delicious sopes, tacos, burritos, and Aguas Frescas, including Jamaica.

For great service, authentic flavors and unlimited fries, you’ll want to stop by La Vero’s in downtown Oxnard.

Escape to Oxnard, California for a fun weekend, romantic getaway or adventure with the kids. Oxnard is just an hour from Los Angeles and 45 minutes from Santa Barbara.
