US President Joe Biden appointed the famous former mayor Mitch Landrie on Sunday to coordinate the implementation of the country’s large-scale new infrastructure law and oversee the disbursement of its $1.2 trillion in funding.

The White House said in a statement that as a senior adviser, the former New Orleans mayor “will oversee the most important and comprehensive investment in American infrastructure for generations.”
After months of debate, Congress recently passed the plan, which aims to create millions of high-paying jobs, upgrade crumbling roads, bridges, waterways and ports, and strengthen supply chains.
Biden is scheduled to sign a landmark bipartisan infrastructure agreement on Monday.

- He took over as Mayor of New Orleans in 2010 after the deadly Hurricane Katrina, because the restoration of this famous Gulf Coast city stalled.
