bliss ball is the ultimate mobile healthy snacks! My girls love dates, so I came up with these sweet and satisfying little treats as a way to incorporate dates into an easy, nutritious snack.This recipe for Coconut Bliss Balls is quick to make, customizable and stores well, making it perfect for Meal preparation.

What is Bliss Ball?

Bliss balls, sometimes called energy balls or energy balls, are simple foods that combine raw, often plant-based ingredients into no-bake snack balls. They got their name because they taste like pure bliss! Many recipes include nuts, coconut, vanilla bean and natural sweeteners such as dates.

Bliss Ball:

  • nut – This recipe uses Roasted Cashews and almond For best texture, but you can substitute any other nut in the same amount, such as pecans, walnuts, or hazelnuts.
  • shredded coconut – You can use shredded coconut, but the larger shredded coconut may remain in the final mixture and the bliss ball may be harder to roll. You will need more topping if desired.
  • sea ​​salt – Balanced sweetness.
  • Vanilla Bean Powder – Although optional, it adds a rich flavor and aroma to this recipe.You can also use 1/2 tsp vanilla extract.
  • pitted candied dates – These add natural sweetness and keep the balls from falling apart. You can substitute any other soft and juicy variety of dates. If using drier dates, soak them in warm water for about 15 minutes or until soft, then drain and pat dry before using.

How to Make a Ball of Happiness

  1. Dispose of dry ingredients. in a food processor, combine cashews, almonds, coconut, sea salt and vanilla bean flour. Blend until the mixture reaches a good consistency.
  2. Date added. Add the medjool dates and process until the ingredients stick together and form a ball easily and not too sticky.

  1. Roll the ball of happiness. with a spoon or medium cookie scoop, take a spoonful of the mixture and form into a ball. Repeat until no mixture remains.

  1. Add toppings. Roll bliss balls in almond meal or desiccated coconut, if desired.

Tips for the Best Bliss Ball Recipe

Tips for the Best Bliss Ball Recipe

This recipe is easy to make, but keep these tips in mind for the best taste and texture:

  • Don’t process too much. Be careful not to process too much so the nuts don’t start turning into a nut butter. It’s okay if there are some slightly larger chunks of nuts.
  • Adjust the dates as needed. The amount of medjool dates you need depends on how soft they are. If the processed ingredients are not sticking together, add more dates until they form into balls easily by hand. If the dough is too wet and sticks to your hands, add more desiccated coconut.
  • Use a cookie scoop. this is the perfect size And it is easier to form a uniform ball.
  • Use roasted cashews for the best flavor. If you buy raw, you can bake them in a 320°F (160°C) oven for 6-8 minutes. Set aside to cool for at least 5 minutes before using.

Recipe Variations

  • peanut butter – The trick with this recipe is to use some sticky stuff to hold everything together.My recipe uses dates, but you can use 1/3 cup peanut butter (or any nut butter) and 1/4 cup honey (regular or unsweetened honey). Or, simply let my Peanut Butter Protein Balls Recipe instead.
  • chocolate – Replace half of the desiccated coconut with 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder.You can also simply add 1/4 cup chocolate chips (or Sugar Free Dark Chocolate Chips) after processing.
  • oatmeal – Substitute old-fashioned rolled oats for almonds.
  • Added Superfoods – Include 1-2 tablespoons of other superfood blends such as chia seedsvery chewy Wolfberryor crispy cocoa nibs.
  • exchange date – Try different dried fruits such as dried apricots, cherries or figs.

storage instructions

  • shop: Store coconut energy balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator. They will last at least a week.
  • Meal Prep: These balls are the perfect make-ahead snack. You can make them in 10 minutes and have them last a week (or a month).
  • freeze: Place the bliss balls into a zip-top freezer bag or airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to 3 months. Thaw in the refrigerator or on the counter.

  4. with a spoon or medium cookie scoop Spoon the ingredients, press/squeeze them with your hands, and roll them into balls. (Use about 1.5 tablespoons of dough per ball.)

  5. If desired, roll the bliss balls in almond flour and/or desiccated coconut for extra flavor so they don’t stick together.
