I’ve been doing this homemade variation Cajun Seasoning Recipe For several years, starting with Cajun Keto Onion Rings I use it for the first time.but when i do Low Carb Jambalaya Recently, I thought it would be helpful to share how to make Cajun seasoning for it in my own post as well.

This concoction can be used in many different ways in your cooking (lots of ideas shared below, from entrees and meat side dishes and pasta) and add a little balanced salty and spicey flavor to just about anything.In my experience, it tastes authentic without being overly complicated – which makes it a the best Cajun seasoning in my book!

What is Cajun Seasoning?

Cajun seasoning is a blend of spices and dried herbs that originated in Louisiana. Cajun cuisine also often includes bell peppers, onions and celery.you can buy spice mixbut super easy to make at home.

Cajun Seasoning Similar to creole seasoning (a blend based on oregano, basil, bay leaf, garlic powder and paprika), but with more spice added.

What’s in Cajun Seasoning?

  • chili – You can also use smoked paprika if you like.
  • garlic powder – Very important in any Cajun spice blend.
  • sea ​​salt -Most Cajun seasoning recipes already have added salt, so this one too. Since salt makes up 1/8 of the recipe, if you want the same flavor intensity, you may need to use less if you don’t add salt.The difference is very small (technically, you’d be substituting 7/8 teaspoon of unsalted cajun seasoning for every whole teaspoon of salted), so it’s easier to use insufficient Teaspoon measuring spoons instead.Alternatively, you can use an equal amount of kosher salt or salt substitute instead of sea salt.
  • herbs – you will need dried oregano and dried thyme leavesor just use one or the other.
  • onion powder – Onion powder adds a complex and mild flavor, but you can substitute more garlic powder or chives for a similar flavor.
  • chili – Red pepper flakes, paprika or paprika can also be substituted for paprika.
  • red pepper flakes – You can substitute other spices such as black pepper, paprika or paprika for similar heat and flavor.

How to Make Cajun Seasoning

If you want a powdery texture, grind the spices in a coffee grinder, food processor or blender. Alternatively, use a mortar and pestle to pound the spices.

Use a spoon to mix the spices together.
