If you love camping and road trips, you don’t need to wait until your baby is older to hit the road. When he was six months old we took our son for the first time on a camping beach trip in Australia and it was one of our favourite travel memories.
Here are some of the things we bring to make your baby’s first camping trip fun, comfortable and easy.
Camping with a baby at Jucy’s apartment
The journey from Brisbane to 1770 takes approximately 5.30 hours. If you’re traveling with a baby, you’ll want to rest a lot along the way. We packed our travel essentials in Jucy Condo with overnight stays at Burrum Heads, 1770 and Woodgate to split our trips.we chose Jussie Apartment Because it’s the most spacious camper, it has a kitchen and can fit a car seat. You can rent a car seat but we decided to bring our own. There are two beds but we used the top bed for storage as it was a bit crowded there. The camper van comes with sheets, pillows, blankets, towels and kitchen supplies, so you don’t need to bring any of these things from home.

What to bring when camping with a baby
It’s easy to overpack when traveling with a baby, but we tried to keep it light. I didn’t bring a lot of clothes as our campground has a washer and dryer that we can use if needed. Here are some of the travel essentials we consider.
car seat: To make our little one’s journey as comfortable as possible, we decided to bring our own car seat.
Portacot + Stroller: The fence is light and easy to set up, making it perfect for naps. The stroller is convenient for walking around the campsite.
wet wipes: You can never have enough wipes. They’re great for cleaning up quick spills and sanitizing hands, etc.
baby carriage: A baby carrier is a must, especially when hiking and walking on the beach.
pajamas: Wear pajamas at night to keep your baby warm. If you plan to camp for a few nights, bring 1-2 in case the poo explodes overnight.
Big Blanket: Great for pit stops where babies need to crawl.
Baby plate, cup + bib: You don’t need to bring any plates, cups or cutlery for yourself, but don’t forget baby items. You can wash these things in the kitchen sink in your camper or campground.
Plan your trip
Choose the right campsite. We booked a family campsite with shower, baby wash station, kitchen and laundry facilities. Since we booked in advance we were able to find a prime spot on the beach.
Drive during nap time. You may want to accompany your baby in the back seat while traveling. We started our tour with a nap on the first morning and stopped to eat when he woke up.
Work around. If your baby needs a diaper change or wants a hug, plan to do it a few more times.
Bring lots of snacks and make them easily accessible.
Pack extra diapers and trash bags.
