chicken:
There are many ways to prepare boneless skinless chicken breasts for Caesar salad, but no matter the cooking method, I recommend this combination of ingredients:
salad:
For the salad, I used a simple combination of vegetables, but feel free to add anything you like to the salad. Here’s what I use:
- lettuce – Romaine lettuce is a classic choice for chicken Caesar salad, but you can also use kale, spinach, arugula, or a mix of greens like spring greens or butter lettuce.
- grape tomato – Optional, but adds juicy texture and flavor. Diced regular or cherry tomatoes also work.
- Shredded Parmesan Cheese – Otherwise Pecorino Romano or Asiago are good substitutes.
- croutons – I used gluten-free croutons, but whatever suits your lifestyle will do.you can also make Keto Croutons (also gluten-free!), or skip the croutons and shredded Parmesan and use Cheese Chips instead.
Variations: Add bacon or hard boiled eggs!
Caesar Salad Dressing:
You can use store bought Caesar dressing but I like to use mine for this salad Homemade Caesar Salad Dressing Recipe (Click on the link to see the number of dressings). This includes:
- mayonnaise – This is the basis for making a creamy Caesar salad dressing.i use mine homemade mayonnaise, but you can use regular or even plain Greek yogurt if you prefer. I already had Dijon mustard in my mayo, but if yours doesn’t, you can also add a teaspoon to the dressing.
- olive oil – Helps emulsify Caesar dressing recipes. You can also use extra virgin olive oil, avocado oil, or any oil you like.
- lemon juice – I often use bottled lemon juice For convenience, but you can substitute fresh lemon juice.
- fish sauce – a must for classic homemade Caesar dressing. It doesn’t end up being fishy – guaranteed!
- Worcestershire sauce – Adds umami. soy sauce, soy sauce substituteOr coconut aminos can be used as a substitute.
- garlic – I use fresh garlic for flavor, but you can use 3 tsp canned garlic or 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder for convenience.
- sea salt & Black pepper
