-The European Union has achieved its goal of providing 70% vaccines for adults-
European Commission President Ursula von der Lein said on Saturday that the EU has achieved its goal of providing enough coronavirus vaccines to cover 70% of the adult population.
The governments of the 27 EU member states are responsible for administering vaccines—some governments are working much faster than others—but Von der Lein emphasized: “The EU keeps its promises.”
-The number of deaths from the virus in Russia hit a new high-
Russia reported 752 deaths from the coronavirus on Saturday, which is a national record for the number of pandemic-related deaths in the country within 24 hours, as the country is fighting the third wave.
Russia has now set seven new highs in the number of Covid-19 deaths in the past 12 days as it is battling a surge in outbreaks caused by the highly contagious Delta variant and slow vaccination campaigns.

Seoul reported 1,378 new coronavirus cases on Saturday, setting a record high for the third consecutive day as South Korea prepares to implement the highest level of restrictions in the metropolitan area next week.
