Over the next two years, energy companies will reap £170bn in excess profits. Insulating all of Britain’s homes would cost just £55bn, government advisers say. Unless the government intervenes, we will suffer every winter while the oil and gas bosses continue to get richer.
Both the cost of living and the climate crisis can be solved by investing in renewable energy, sequestering homes across the country, properly taxing the windfall profits of oil and gas companies, and giving people the skills and training they need to make this green energy revolution happen.
The government must act to keep people warm this winter.
