Delicious Vegan Greek Salad Recipe


Vegan Greek Salad is a deliciously refreshing dish that combines the vibrant flavors of the Mediterranean with plant-based ingredients. This is a popular salad recipe and one of my favorites! In Greece, you really don’t have anything like an authentic Greek salad.
I’ve been there many times and my food of choice is always the Greek salad!

Traditionally, Greek salad, or “horiatiki,” is made with feta cheese, but in vegan versions, the cheese is replaced with a vegan alternative, like VioLife cheese in this salad recipe. The main ingredients of this vegan Greek salad include lots of fresh food like juicy tomatoes, crunchy cucumbers, fresh herbs, olives and a tangy homemade dressing.

Add your own favorite ingredients

One of the great joys of a vegan Greek salad, or any other salad for that matter, is how versatile it is. There’s nothing stopping you from adding your own preferences and experimenting with different ingredients. If you’re not a fan of cherry tomatoes or leafy greens like I am, feel free to add your favorite toppings like bell peppers, chickpeas, or cashews instead of black olives. The options are endless.

This recipe makes a great main meal for two or the perfect side dish for four.

  • 1/2 red onion thinly sliced
  • 1 cucumber, peeled, seeded, and roughly chopped
  • 4 large vine tomatoes, cut into wedges
  • handful of kalamata olives
  • 1 teaspoon oregano (dried)
  • 90g vegan feta cheese (I used Violife)
  • 3-4 tablespoons Greek extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice

method

  1. Place prepared ingredients in a large salad bowl. (all except feta)
  2. Mix lightly to ensure the oil covers the ingredients.
  3. Serve on a plate and top with crumbled vegan feta cheese.
