this Environmental Justice and Climate Justice Cities Network Two graduate students (Masters or Ph.D.) are being recruited to support the work of the network.
The EJCJC Network is an open space for collaboration and dialogue on campus environment and climate justice across institutions and disciplines. Positions begin in the summer and ideally continue into the fall. Start dates are somewhat flexible.
We are particularly keen to support co-learning with environmental justice advocates and community-based organizations and to share this learning across national and global networks. Our goal is to inform the fundamental value systems, operating models, research, and curriculum of the Earth Institute and Columbia University Climate Institute; to make our institution more responsive to current and pressing social and environmental needs; to support the direct application of climate justice approaches to implementation Urban policy, advocacy, planning and planning.More information is available at our website.
EJCJC Fellows will be responsible for helping coordinate and co-develop networking events, linking to other events and networks on campus, developing climate justice primers, and collaborating with postdoctoral fellows associated with our network. Tasks may include helping organize staff meetings, webinars and events; providing website and social media support; preparing communications and promotional materials; managing projects and follow-ups; developing and managing systems and processes to maintain network connectivity. Fellows will play a strategic support role for the Co-Directors, helping to implement outputs that may vary in size and scope (e.g. workshops, events, podcasts, articles, courses, research projects, exhibitions, etc.).
This is a great opportunity to interact with researchers and practitioners across the University. Fellows are expected to work 10-15 hours a week and will be paid $20 an hour. The position begins June 1, 2022 (with flexibility in terms of summer start date and time) and runs through the 2022-2023 school year.
The ideal candidate should demonstrate a strong commitment to environmental and climate justice, excellent communication, writing and organizational skills, as well as collaboration and team building skills.
