The Metropolitan Police Department stated that a total of 9 people were arrested for these activities on Sunday.
The force stated that three people were arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and five others were arrested for conspiracy to cause criminal damage.
Metropolitan said that others were arrested for criminal damage caused by equipment, and all were detained by the police.
During the upcoming protests, Deputy Assistant Commissioner Matt Twist said: “We have carried out an important operation led by an experienced command team to effectively respond to the two-week demonstrations. Respond accordingly.
“We understand why this is such an important reason. No one will ignore this. We don’t want those who protest to affect the rights of others.
“We don’t want to cause serious disruption to London-the bank holiday in August is one of the busiest holidays of the year, and we know that this will mean that officials will be evacuated from the local administrative area and taken to central London to deal with this Protest.”
The Extinction Rebellion vowed to return to the streets after a series of victories in court earlier this month, and activists successfully appealed previous stunt convictions.
