The real estate magazine EG, which disclosed the transaction, stated that Facebook’s decision to expand its office footprint “was after it has worked on several new innovative projects in recent months”.
Due to continued concerns about Covid-19 delta variants, many tech giants have postponed the return of offices including Amazon and Facebook to January.
The space occupied by Facebook will be regarded as a vote of confidence in London, which should have been used by the advertising company Dentsu International, but will now remain in the existing space on campus.
A Dentsu International spokesperson said: “Like many organizations, Dentsu International has been studying the ways of working with employees in the future and changing business needs. Through this assessment, we are committed to adopting a new hybrid working model that combines office and remote work. Together, it provides flexibility and balance to our employees.”
The spokesperson added: “This change provides an opportunity to reassess our property requirements. We have negotiated with British Land to retain our current lease agreement at Triton Street 10 and 20.”
British Land declined to comment and was unable to reach Facebook for comment.
