Australian police said on Monday that after investigating a fake video, they accused a man of posing as a police officer, which allegedly showed a senior official conspiring to overthrow the government.
In a video widely shared on social media, a man claiming to be the Australian Federal Police Commissioner Reece Kershaw can be heard discussing the secret police force and how to “dissolve” the Australian government.
The police stated that Kershaw was not the person in the video, and the investigation led to the arrest of a man in Western Australia. The authorities said the man had ties to other anti-government organizations.
Acting Assistant Commissioner Andrew Donohue told reporters in Brisbane: “These people think that our government system is not suitable for them, or is illegal to some extent and must be usurped.”

Donohue said that the police did not confirm the identity of the man, and he also tried to find police badges and stamps. If found guilty, he will face up to two years in prison.
