Christina’s Cocktail Bar
/ Neil CratonThe London design studio Goddard Littlefair is responsible for the interior decoration. There is a brand new double-height lobby area with its own holographic selfie booth and cocktail bar Christina’s. The atmosphere here is cool, modern and a bit Tulum, with Fred Coppin’s hand-painted colorful artwork on the exposed concrete wall, a lot of greenery and impressive copper bars, just begging for support. And, at 6pm on Friday night, local crowds are doing this.
The vibrant theme continues downstairs in Daniel Garcia’s Bibo tapas restaurant, which has its own “hidden” Andalusian courtyard with bright scarlet walls, large potted plants and beautiful tiled floors. This is the ideal place for date night. Meanwhile, on the roof of Altitude, we head to Miami-or Ibiza? -Equipped with wicker chairs, low hanging rattan lampshades, and the star of the show: outdoor rooftop plunge pool. This is the place where breakfast is served. Guests can take a dip around the swimming pool or rest until noon, after which it is only for members.
The former Curtain is easily recognizable due to its New York-style exterior, with industrial-style black-framed factory windows. Choose from 120 rooms and suites, but be sure to treat yourself to a room and suite with a terrace. The opinions are worth it. Our car is very large, overlooking the abandoned, full of garbage parking lot above the American car wash on Dadong Street. There is no more Shoreditch than this. Each room has floor-to-ceiling windows and a walk-in steam shower, which is a real highlight, especially if you were overly addicted to Christina’s the night before. Take a short stop in your own private steam room and you will be immediately ready to read Spitalfields in the morning.
It is difficult to find a good Spanish restaurant in London, so foodies should be excited about it Bibo, This lively new restaurant is located under Mondrian Shoreditch and is run by Andalusian 3-star chef Dani García. Known all over the world for its delicious (and fancy) brioche bread, this represents Garcia’s first concept in the UK. We started with the melting Iberian ham croquettes, patatas bravas with perfectly balanced spiciness, juicy gambas fritas with hot sauce, and zucchini strips sandwiched between crisp tempura. Our excellent waitress suggested our staple, Iberian Pork Presa-thank god, she did it-the cuts found on Spanish pigs were very tender, juicy and pink, like steaks. We had a grilled vegetable with romesco and ended up with two huge chocolate mousses. You won’t finish it, but you will definitely like to try it. My biggest regret is that I didn’t order the oxtail brioche, which I am now told is an absolute must.
If you want something to eat, Christina’s will provide you with a Japanese sandwich menu made from locally baked soft bread. You can also quickly enjoy croissants and coffee here. Redemption Roasters is committed to training criminals in prisons, providing them with “competitive level” barista skills, creating a custom blend made from ethical beans. For something more powerful, the bartender Marcis Dzelzainis reimagined all classic creations in a new way and emphasized local sourcing and sustainable ingredients. Think of grapefruit negroni, oyster shell martini, and sour cherry liqueur.
This is where the cool cats relax between parties and avoiding the office to the World Food Program (working from the swimming pool). But this is also a good place for a romantic stay for two. Special Occasion? Book a luxury loft for an extra luxury factor.
The room rate is GBP 299 per night. We live in a loft suite, which costs £560 per night (without breakfast) sbe.com
