Four people were stabbed and injured in Tokyo train-report

Local media said that a knife attack occurred on a train in Tokyo on Friday, resulting in four injuries. The suspect was arrested after escaping the scene, leaving his weapon behind.

Violent crime is extremely rare in Japan, and reported attacks occurred during the Olympic Games in the capital to raise the security alert level.

The public broadcaster NHK said that the attack occurred on a night commuter train in Setagaya, west of Tokyo, and two of them were seriously injured.

The venue is a few kilometers away from the Olympic equestrian venue.

The train company stated on its website that it had suspended some services after the “carriage was attacked.”

Local television station TBS said the man was captured after leaving the scene of the attack. There are no direct details about the attacker or motive.
