Former Interns, Batch 2019

Back in June 2019, I was looking for an internship to fulfill my university requirements. Thankfully, my brother used to work with Gab, a senior designer at Brevo, who was openly looking for graphic design and copywriting interns. This got my brother’s attention, and not long after, I applied.

I consider Brevo to be my introduction into the world of advertising. Before my internship, I had zero knowledge about copywriting. Most of my writing experience has been related to young star or featured article Gidon. I want to expand myy vision and try new things.

In the past, I’ve heard a lot of bad things about life as an agent, especially about the workload, hours and bad clients. I’m happy to say these are things I’ve never experienced at Brevo! I have seen firsthand how this establishment values proper working hours as much as they value fun.

This is what I love most about the internship experience: it changed my perspective on agency life and taught me a lot about what an ideal agency is. Plus, I love being around a group of hardworking, creative, and crazy fun people!

I did have some challenges during my internship, especially getting into the mindset of a copywriter. When I first came in, I barely knew how to write a proper copy. It made me feel incompetent and a bit of an imposter at times, but I kept reminding myself that I chose to intern at Brevo to learn and hone this particular skill.

What really helped me overcome these feelings was Brevo’s Bootcamp, a series of short but fun tasks that really challenged me to think outside the box. Other than that, everyone in the office has been so helpful and inspiring, and it all really helped me become the copywriter I am today.

I remember one of my supervisors, Bettina, telling me that Brevo wanted to recruit me to the team as soon as I graduated, and I took that to heart. After grieving over my last days of school (and my youth), I snapped my photo and DMed Carissa on Instagram asking if there were any openings.

A month later, I had an interview with (CEO of Brevo) Imran, which was honestly more of a catch-up than a job interview. Lo and behold, it was August and I was at my desk writing copy for a leading cake company. The rest is history!

If we’re talking numbers, a lot has changed at Brevo since I joined as an intern. I’m excited to see new faces and new talent on the team, even if it’s just through my computer screen. I am very proud of the agency’s efforts to expand and maintain the same warm company culture as my interns. Most especially, years later, I still love seeing my concepts and copies come to life as our artists work their magic.

Kyle, 21

Freelance Web Developer

Former Interns, Batch 2020

During my junior year as an undergraduate computer science student, I was looking for a company to intern for my internship semester. My best friend, a former Brevo intern, recommended this agency to me and had great things to say about their work culture. While they didn’t really have any tech-related job openings, I jumped at the chance to send in my resume.

After my first interview with Imran, I could tell that Brevo was different from other companies I had interviewed with. During the meeting, we discussed not only the value I could bring to the Brevo team, but also what value this internship would bring to me.

Due to the pandemic, I had to complete my internship from home. Admittedly, I was disappointed at first. But after getting to know the Brevo team through my laptop screen and countless Skype messages, I feel right at home. I love how warm and interesting everyone is, and it’s a testament to what I’ve often heard that a warm work culture exists outside the four walls of a brick-and-mortar office.

As an intern, I do face some challenges. Since I haven’t met any of my colleagues in person, I find it difficult to coordinate my day-to-day work with everyone. At the time, Brevo didn’t have a resident web developer, so I was hesitant to ask anyone for help for a long time. Ultimately though, I fell in love with learning at my own pace and on my own terms, which made me feel comfortable talking to my colleagues and asking how I could help them.

At the end of the internship, I found that the tasks for the next semester were very light and I had plenty of free time. So I took the opportunity to ask Imran if they would like to hire me as a free-time web developer for the next few months. While they generally don’t hire part-timers, he told me that he and my other supervisors were already thinking about it! This is how I got my first real job.

Without further ado, I’m convinced that each Brevo team member has their own unique and fascinating quirks. Most importantly, we seem to be able to work together with ease, even in the new normal. During the lockdown, I fell in love with the collaboration system inherent in the company and how they deliver thoughtful, top-notch creative work to their clients. I’ve been stuck with a technical mindset throughout my courses, so it’s been incredibly refreshing to be surrounded by all this creativity while I’m practicing web development.
