This young man known as a toolkit was photographed at Holnicote Estate, which protects charities. Somerset In January 2020, the beaver was introduced into a 6.7-acre fence.
Hornicot’s rangers narrowed more than 500 suggestions about the names of newcomers—Grylls’ mother and Yogi’s father’s babies—to four options and voted on social media.
Approximately 2,800 people voted. Half of the votes went to “Rashford” to commemorate the football player who missed a penalty in the Euro 2020 final defeat on Sunday and suffered online Racial discrimination.
Banksy is named after an artist from the region and ranked second with 17% of the vote, while Hope and Pip have 16% of the vote.
The vote was taken when a static camera captured it swimming back to the family cabin with its mother. When she stopped to gnaw a branch, it was hit when it was released to the public on Tuesday.
Ben Eardley, Project Manager of the Holnicott Estate National Trust, said: “We are overwhelmed by the interest of the newest member of the Beaver family.
“It is great to have so many people as excited as we are because our project to reintroduce the beaver into this special landscape has been so successful.
“Rashford is a great choice for this new member of the family-after an exciting game for the England team, it reminds people of a moment in the history of this country’s football.
“This kit is the first kit born in Exmoor in 400 years, and it brings hope to our children and grandchildren.”
