GAC says the second Canadian has recovered from the collapse of a Florida apartment


The Canadian Department of Global Affairs said that the body of the second Canadian has been found in the rubble of a collapsed apartment building near Miami two weeks ago.

The government agency did not determine the identity of the deceased.

As more bodies were found, the death toll from the collapse of the Surfside apartment climbed to 64

The Department of Global Affairs said that at least two Canadians remained unaccounted for after the collapse of the Champlain Tower South in Surfside, Florida, on June 24.

Miami-Dade officials had previously confirmed that the first Canadian whose body was found was 66-year-old Ingrid “Itty” Ainsworth, who was a former Montrealer.

She and her Australian husband named them publicly on Wednesday after the body was found.
