How to Make Tomato Crab Cakes
This Gluten-Free Crab Cakes Recipe Is So So Crazy easy. In just a few easy steps, you can have rich, buttery paleo crab cakes. You just mix most of the ingredients together, stir in sauteed onions and chunks of crab meat, make patties, and deep fry… voila! Because crab cake seasoning tends to be a complex combination of spices, I use Old Bay seasoning to save time.
- fried essence. Lightly saute some diced onions until translucent and light brown.

- Mix together the gluten-free crab cake base. Whisk together almond flour, egg whites, mayonnaise, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, dried parsley, old bay seasoning and olive oil.

- Mix up low carb crab cakes. Add the sauteed onion to the almond flour mixture and stir. After mixing well, gently stir in the crab meat.
Tip: Don’t overmix. We wanted to add the crab instead of mashing it and breaking the crab pieces.

- make pies. Using your hands, form 8 patties and place on a lined baking sheet.
Tip: If possible, refrigerate before cooking. This step will help you keep it together while cooking your keto crab cakes.

How many carbs are in crab cakes?
These low-carb crab cakes have only 1.6 grams of net carbs each! yes!
Many packaged crab cakes have close to 6-10 grams of carbs in one crab cake, which is usually not enough for an entire meal, so if you have several as an entree, you’ll eat 2-3 times as much. The nutritional information on the recipe card below is for each crab cake, but you can easily have 2-4 crab cakes in a main course for dinner and they’ll still be keto friendly.
As for restaurants? Your guess is as good as mine. Flour or breadcrumbs are almost always used as a binder and filler, but the amount used will vary by recipe and quality. Higher quality crab cakes will have more crab and less filling.
Are crab cakes keto?
My keto crab cake recipe is definitely keto! With only 2 grams of total carbs per crab cake, they’re perfect as an appetizer, salad topping, or main course.
Trust me, there is no bad time for a keto crab recipe like this. 😉

Is it imitation crab ketones?
Imitation crab is not considered keto because it usually contains wheat flour and sugar.
A serving of imitation crab has 11 grams of carbs and requires only 1/2 cup of crab, which is on the high side for such a small portion.
How to Store Gluten-Free Crab Cakes
Store cooked crab cakes in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Gently reheat in a hot pan until heated through.
You can also freeze this low carb crab recipe.
How to Freeze Paleo Crab Cakes
What a great idea to freeze extra paleo crab cakes, in fact I like to double the batch so I can freeze a batch. After making them into patties, place them on a lined baking sheet and freeze until set. Once frozen, wrap individually in plastic wrap and store in freezer bags.
Thaw gluten-free crab cakes in the refrigerator overnight, then fry as directed.
